Emma and Sean met in 2013 when Emma became friends with Sean and his friends. After constantly hanging out with the group through the beginning of autumn, Emma and Sean made a deal; "You Drive, I Buy." Sean had a car and, more importantly, a driver's license. Emma had some capital from babysitting to fund these adventures, but conveniently only had enough money for the two of them. So they ditched the rest of their friend group and started going on Chick-Fil-A runs every day after school. It was a fair trade off, and if they brought any of their other friends along, it would have tipped the balance!

Emma and Sean continued their friendship throughout the start of Emma's sophomore year. Emma even went to the mall with Sean to help him pick out an outfit for a date with his crush. Little did she know, there was no date. Sean just wanted to hang out with Emma a little bit more. (When Emma found this out 9 years later, she just about cried.)

Emma's family were constantly asking about this "Sean" guy. Emma insisted that he was just a friend, but when he bought her jewelry that said "love" on it for Christmas, there was not much denying it. Despite that, they persisted in their denial for another 4 months.

Sean and Emma went on their first date on April 4th, 2014. (04.04.14 - what a lucky date!) They went to the local wing restaurant, Glory Days. Emma and Sean had actually been eating there as "just friends" for several months. That dinner was the first time they thought they knew what they were getting into. After wings, they went to the theater and caught Spiderman - the Andrew Garfield version. Andrew Garfield will forever be Emma's favorite Spiderman. Sean still stands by Toby McGuire.

Emma and Sean kept with it. Sean chose to go to Virginia Tech after he graduated. Emma visited him while he was at school, spending Halloween together and then meeting Sean's family that were local to Roanoke during their anniversary weekend. The next year, Emma started at Virginia Tech too. Emma and Sean loved being Hokies together. They went to football games and ate at Gillies (a local breakfast place) as often as they could. Sean graduated in 2019, but Emma still had a few more years left.

Over the next two years, the roles were reversed, with Sean traveling away from home to see Emma while she was at school. You could say that Emma’s semester in Germany caused just a bit more hassle for Sean, but Emma would call that an adventure. Emma graduated in 2021, with Sean and her family cheering her on.

Emma and Sean moved to Raleigh together shortly after, where Emma works as an Architect and Sean works as Expert Services Engineer. Emma has no idea what that means, really, but he seems happy enough. Emma and Sean adopted Benny, a loud tuxedo cat, in August, 2021. On June 10th, 2023, Sean took Emma to an Azalea Garden in Raleigh, and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. She said yes.
