Welcome to Kansas City! This beautiful, historic city is half in the state of Kansas, and half in the state of Missouri. Phillip and Emma live on the Kansas side, and Phillip's family live on the Missouri side (where Phillip grew up!).

The hotels we are recommending are in downtown Kansas City, with plenty to see and do!

Downtown Kansas City has a free streetcar (a tram for my non-americans) that we highly recommend riding. The following website has the route and other information about the streetcar!

We highly recommend riding the streetcar and stopping to explore Union Station- the historic train station built in the early 1900's, which has some very interesting exhibitions along with some kid-friendly activities, coffee shops, and restaurants.

Across the street (and accessible via a completely covered walkway) is Crown Center, a large shopping center with plenty of stores and restaurants.

Also across the street is the World War One Museum, an interesting museum with an incredible view of the city!

The next stop is the Crossroads district, Kansas City's art district, with lots of very cute coffee shops and arty stores. Emma is a fan of Cafe Corazon for great latin american coffee. For a fun few hours, check out UpDown Bar and enjoy a drink or two while playing old arcade games!

Two stops down, the Power and Light district is Kansas City's bar district, and it has some great dinner options!

Towards the other end of the tram line, check out the Kansas City Library- known for it's giant books painted on the side of it's gorgeous architecture!

At the far end of the tram line is the River Market- the farmers market won't be open during the winter, but there are a plethora of grocery stores and restaurants with food from all over the world. You could easily spend hours exploring the different stores, and there is no shortage of places to eat!

Emma also highly recommends stopping at the Steamboat Arabia Museum at the River Market for a very unique experience. This is Emma's favourite place to take people when visiting Kansas City!

Not accessible via the tram but still worth visiting is the Nelson Atkins Museum- Kansas City's Art Museum. Emma could spend hours here easily! Make sure you check out the cloisters!
