EMMA'S SIDE   Elisha was the first person I met when entering Johnson for the second half of my junior year. I remember the feeling I had when he showed me around, he was so welcoming and I found it sweet that he had offered to give the tour. Little did I know that his hospitality was entirely accredited to his four rock, paper, scissor losses. My sister entered Johnson with friends, I didn’t have any friends going into Johnson. Knowing that, Elisha offered me a seat with him and his friends at lunch. I sat with them during the first week then branched off and made some friends of my own. We were acquaintances during the short time I attended Johnson High School, then we went our separate ways. Elisha went on to New Mexico Highlands and I attended ACC. In early May of 2023, My family and I attended my little brothers seven on seven tournament at Hays football field. I remember setting our collapsable chairs down and trying to find my brother on the length of this field. During this search, I noticed the kind but unwilling soul that showed me around Johnson. I turned to my mom and said, That's the guy who showed me around my first day, he was really cute. As I stared, subtly trying to get his attention, my mom suddenly decided there was too much sun in her eyes and asked that we go to the other side of the field. I reluctantly agreed and continued my staring from across the field. When the games ended we started packing everything up, I was walking back and forth across this field debating whether I should say hi or not. I was on my final lap around this field and asked my mom, “should I say hi? What if I just yelled at him from where I am at?” My mom has never been one for yelling at people so she was a very hesitant supporter of this idea. I was at one far end and Elisha was in the middle of the field when I said “ELI!” I yelled this four or five times. Nobody calls Elisha Eli, I have no idea why this was the route I took to get his attention, but it was effective enough. His friend kind of nudged him and pointed in my direction, I can only imagine I looked like a crazy person waving the way I did. I felt satisfied and continued walking to my car, Elisha's side said that he was startled by me yelling but flattered and tried to find me in the parking lot. By that point, I had already left and begun my social media search for this beautiful seven-on-seven Johnson football man. I found him, followed him, and waited a solid two minutes before he dmed me on instagram. We talked for somewhere around 2-3 weeks, then we went on a date to Chick-fil-A, the rest was history.
