Our Wedding

All because we both swiped right...

Emma Kate and Michael met in December 2022, sharing their first date at ABC West bowling alley. From the moment they met, there was an undeniable spark—an excitement and understanding that everything in their lives had led them to this very point. Though their story began as a long distance relationship, they were determined to make it work. Michael traveled every other weekend to Louisville, Kentucky, while playing football at Shippensburg University and in May 2023, Emma Kate packed up all her things from college and moved back home. Nothing was going to stand in the way of them being together.For those who knew them individually, it was clear that they were meant for each other. After dating for 540 days—symbolic of the 540 miles that once separated them—Michael proposed to Emma Kate at Tiger Tail Beach in Marco Island, Florida. Those 540 days represented not just the physical distance between Louisville and Shippensburg, but the strength of their connection.Both had dreamed of finding true love, and now they could say that dream had come true. Life may be filled with challenges, but having your person by your side through it all makes every moment worthwhile. Together, they've created countless memories that will last a lifetime. And as they look ahead, it's beautiful to know that this is only the beginning of their journey together.

Our Story

We were placed on the same club field hockey team in 2018 and instantly bonded over our RBFs. Years have passed, and millions of memories have been created—from painting your childhood bedroom after a tournament, to traveling to Siesta Key together, to eating chips and guacamole while a guy got his beard washed at hair school. The moments we’ve shared have been filled with nothing but love and laughter, but my favorite joke of ours will always be: “The sun, the sun, THE SUN IS OUT!”

Madi Herb

At the University of Louisville, I joined Sigma Kappa, where I eventually met Skyler. One day, she sent a message in the sorority group chat about an open room in her apartment—and, for some reason, she was crazy enough to let a ginger and her oversized puppy move in. Stapleton and I are still so thankful to have you as Dog Mom #2, even though I was convinced for a long time that Stapleton liked you more than me! Deep down, I knew it was because you always gave him ice cubes—but at least I never got nacho cheese on his tail!

Skyler Elliott

The only other ginger I’ve ever gotten along with. I met Makayla when she was one of my cosmetology school teachers, and she quickly became one of the biggest mentors in my life. Getting to come to work and create beautiful hair with you by my side is something I will forever cherish. From teaching me how to do a curly blowout to painting a ceiling with a “colossal” brush, I will never stop appreciating everything I learn from you. Just please don’t time me foiling someone’s hair again!

Makayla Miller

We met in cosmetology school when Lexi randomly showed up at Walk With Scissors one day. I’m not going to lie—I didn’t talk to her during her first month there, but practicing manicures on each other sparked a friendship we both never knew we needed. Somehow, she still loves me—even after I put expired toner on her hair and gave her burns on her forehead from color remover and the heat lamp. Oops!

Lexi Weaver

We started cosmetology school at the same time, and her first impression of me was that I couldn’t possibly be a real ginger because I had red hair and a nice tan. Well, surprise—I am a leprechaun! Our friendship truly began when there was a sprinkle on the back of her pants from the ice cream shop, and we eventually bonded over our love for all things Disney. The both of us are totally secret Disney adults, but we’ll never admit it!

Eden Williams

We met at a UNC Field Hockey Camp way back in July 2018. The miles between us never impacted our friendship—not even when I moved to her hometown, Louisville, KY, for college, and she turned around and went to the University of Georgia. Since she left me in her hometown, her family adopted me as their second daughter... and I wouldn’t have it any other way. From all the FaceTime calls when I was at your house, to you saying hi from the Ring camera, we always found a way to stay connected and cheer each other on from afar!

Raleigh Hunt

Our friendship began early when I transferred to Shippensburg to play football in 2022. From fall camp, we instantly clicked, sharing countless conversations and realizing just how much we had in common. By 2023, we were next-door neighbors off campus, turning everyday moments into lifelong memories. From late nights watching Prison Break at 340 Fort St, to Polar Plunge trips down the shore, to strategically matching our class schedules just to survive, and grinding together in the weight room and on the gridiron—every moment has built the foundation of our brotherhood. I couldn’t be happier or prouder to have this guy standing by my side on the most important day of my life.

Jake Deluccia

One of the most down-to-earth, genuine dudes I’ve ever met. Even though we never played football or had any classes together at Shippensburg, that never stopped us from making unforgettable memories. From drinking "Rolling Rocks "up in Willpo (and anywhere else we can find them), to trips down the shore in Seaside, to fishing off Potato Road at a creek neither of us can pronounce—every adventure has been a blast. For the record, it was Tanner who fell in the creek, not me.

Tanner Lorson

I still can’t tell if this guy likes me or not. We first met during fall camp in Shippensburg in 2022, and at the time, I honestly thought he hated me. But over time, I came to appreciate—and now love—the legendary Smeck sarcasm. It’s one of my favorite things about him. In 2023, we were roommates at 334 Fort, and we made so many great memories in that house. One of my favorites was our daily electric scooter rides to practice and meetings—before they were banned by the end of the year. Probably our fault. I’m proud to call him one of my best friends and honored to have him stand with me on this special day.

Ethan Smerecki

One of the most genuine and kind people I’ve ever met, Ryan is another one of my best friends—both on and off the field at Shippensburg. He’s been there through many highs and lows, and I’m incredibly grateful for his friendship. One of my favorite memories was during Emma Kate’s 20th birthday celebration at Ship. Since she couldn’t go out to the bars, Ryan stayed back to keep the party going with us at the house—even though he couldn’t go to the bars either HAHA! I consider myself very lucky to have a friend like Ryan in my life.

Ryan Orr

Somebody’s gotta be the punching bag of the group—and let’s be honest, Boog wears that crown proudly. He’s the ultimate stereotypical Philly fan and a true sports betting degenerate. But seriously, I don’t know what I’d do without this guy. He’s always the funniest one in the room, even if he’s the only one laughing. I’m beyond grateful for all the memories we’ve made, and even more excited for the ones still to come.

Josh Boyda

My CTE brother—have we shared more hits to the head than fond memories? Hard to say… I forget. But in all seriousness, THess is one of my closest friends from Shippensburg Football. He’s the first person I turn to when I need a laugh or some life advice—though let’s be honest, the answer’s usually the same either way. That’s just THess. I couldn’t feel luckier to have this guy standing by my side in August.

Our “something blue” is all of you!

To help bring our vision to life, we kindly ask all guests to wear shades of blue to the wedding. From navy to sky blue, dusty to royal—we’d love for everyone to stick to this color palette! The dress code is semi-formal, so think cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits, button-downs, blazers, or suits. Thank you for adding a little extra magic to our celebration!

We’ve reserved a block of rooms at the Wyndham Garden for your convenience! The hotel is just 10 minutes away from the venue. To access the special rate, simply use the link below to book your room! Need dates outside the room block? The block covers check-in starting Friday, 8/15, through check-out on Sunday, 8/17. If you’re planning to arrive earlier or stay later, just give the hotel a call, and they’ll assist with booking those extra nights! This also applies to anyone needing a room for ONLY Saturday night!!

Wyndham Garden York

Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) is the largest nearby airport, offering more airlines and flight options. It’s located about 1.5 hours from the venue.If you're flying in, BWI might be your best bet for flexibility—just keep in mind the extra drive time!

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport 

If you prefer something closer, Harrisburg International Airport (MDT) is a smaller airport about 30 minutes from the venue. While it has fewer flight options, it’s much more convenient if you're looking to minimize travel time!
