We met while both working for a babysitting company in Indianapolis. We talked at a sitter hangout, found each other on Instagram (or Emma found Cole), and started talking and never stopped. We connected over our love for the Lord, traveling, pouring into the next generation, songs, adventures, and games.
How we met- Emmas version: When I first saw Cole my heart raced a little. I thought he was attractive, but I also was surprised to see him. The babysitting company we used to work for was having a sitter hangout. Most of these hangouts consisted of women, but there was Cole in the midst of all of us. We were eating at The Garage downtown, and I told him that Mama FoFos was really good, so he followed me to that restaurant and ordered a gyro with me. We talked a little bit that night, and I recognized how sweet and caring he was immediately. A month went by, and we were at the next sitter hangout. I saw he was there and I'm sure my cheeks got red because I was nervous and excited to be around him. We talked more that night and were flirting with one another. We had such good chemistry, and I wanted to keep talking with him after, but didn't ask for his number or Instagram. The next day, my friends and I went full detective mode and found his Instagram. I requested to follow him and waited all day for a notification. Hours later I saw his message asking if I was SMS Emma. I couldn't help but smile. We talked every day that week. The more I got to know him the bigger my crush became. We hung out in person that Saturday and were both so nervous the whole time. He cooked food with me, we played games, built his bedframe (I made fun of him for having his mattress on the floor and by that weekend he had a bedframe). After that first time of hanging out, we never stopped. I fell in love with him deeply and quickly. I knew he was the one after 2 months of dating. He is one of the best things to happen to me and Im so glad he followed me to get gyros. As I tell him frequently, he had me at gyro.
Coles account: As a business student working in babysitting, the last thing I was looking for was my future. With nothing to do or lose I went to sitter hangouts wanting to ease my nerves about babysitting. There is not much I remember about the first sitter hangout, but I do remember going with Emma to get food. Right after we were walking back to the table past the bar and she said: Ooooh, do you want get a drink? In one moment, our perceptions collided. I thought she can drink? hesitated, wanting to say of course, because of how mature and old I am... and actually said Do you think I can? She chuckled as realization set it and got herself a drink. I noticed her again at the next sitter hangout, which was more relaxed. I remember how cool I thought she was with her all of her traveling, foreign boyfriend, and characteristic calm. Adventurous, beautiful, and cool, what more could I dream for? I remember chatting and soaking her up for the rest of the night, so you can imagine the knot in my stomach when she followed me on instagram. Dating should certainly not come from babysitting, however I'm glad it did this time.
