Nick and Emma met in 2019 when Emma was in undergrad at UK and they were both working at Malone’s for part time jobs. Nick’s twin sister Kristen convinced him to ask Emma on a date to Local Taco in Lexington. From there, they never stopped going on dates.
After having been together almost 5 years now, there have been many moments that have defined their relationship to make it what it is now. Since they started dating, they have had many trips traveled, much time spent with family, many life chapters lived, complete restoration of health for Nick, and oh so many wonderful memories have been had.
It was coming up on 1 year since Nick’s kidney transplant surgery when they got engaged. Together, they had planned a trip to Chicago to watch the Reds play the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Memorial Day weekend. In typical Nick fashion, bad luck struck and he had some concerning lab results from his follow up visit with the doctors at UK only 2 weeks before the trip to Chicago. His course of treatment to fix those labs led them to cancel the trip. They, instead, took a day trip to Cincinnati where Nick, out of the blue and completely unbeknownst to anyone else, decided that this was a good time to propose — since the original plan to ask in Chicago was scratched. Emma happily said yes to her forever and was so excited to make Nick a permanent dog dad to their Gertie. They are so excited to grow with each other during this period of engagement and are so excited to celebrate their wedding with friends and family!
