Our Wedding

Our story begins like so many others before us. It was spoken into existence long before clocks measured the hours, calendars marked the days, or pens recorded the moments. It began at the very moment God created everything-that is where our story truly starts. Many factors shaped our love and led us to one another. The first was the creation of Love itself. Though, perhaps “creation” isn’t the right word. I believe Love was never made, but rather revealed - first expressed by God Himself. He not only showed us Love; He perfected it through His Son. Every breath, every word, every glance of Jesus was a piece of the ultimate expression of Love. His sacrifice not only set us free from the bondage of sin, but also taught us how to truly love. When Jesus completed His mission, His new ecclesia was scattered across the world to proclaim the good news of His Love. (Of course, His mission held many facets, but for the sake of this love story, that is the one I hold onto.) From there, our ancestors - brave hearts from Scotland and Cajuns from France - made their way to the New World. (THE GREAT UNITED STATES OF AMERICA) Drawn eventually into Louisiana, perhaps by the food, perhaps by God’s hand, they discovered the Love that is Jesus. Each marriage - whether born of passion or circumstance - wove together the bloodlines that led to us, and to that fateful meeting at the church we both call home. From almost-lovers to classmates in Aleph, our story began to blossom in a doorway below the equator. After a week of dying to self, we felt as though we were seeing each other for the very first time. Whether it was dancing in the rain, carrying wood through the forest for hours, teaching little ones the gospel, or playing soccer like gringos, those were the adventures that drew our hearts together in ways we had never imagined. And then - leaning against a hotel doorway, lost in each other’s eyes - we saw it clearly: forever had just begun. -two for now, soon to be one :) <3

DIXIE COTTON GIN

We are thrilled to host our wedding at the historic Dixie Cotton Gin, located at 6596 Sentell Rd, Shreveport, LA 71107. This charming venue, once a thriving cotton gin dating back to the early 1900s, has been beautifully restored and blends rustic charm with timeless elegance. Surrounded by scenic views, it provides a perfect backdrop for both our ceremony and reception. To ensure your arrival is as smooth as possible, there will be a parking attendant on hand to assist you. We look forward to celebrating with you in this unique and memorable setting!

DIRECTIONS

Located 10 minutes North of downtown Shreveport. If you are coming from North Market, please be aware of the sharp "S" curve about 1.5 miles before you get to the Gin. There is a road sign letting you know to only go 15 mph - PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE THIS. There is also an alternate route that is a bit less of a scenic view but might be easier to travel. Take exit 221 located off of Dixie Blanchard Road.

Our Venue

We are absolutely delighted to treat our guests to a relaxed, but delicious culinary experience on our special day. For the reception, we’ve carefully curated a menu that promises to satisfy every palate. You’ll be able to indulge in a Baked Potato Bar, brimming with an array of decadent toppings—from melted cheese and crispy bacon to fresh herbs and savory sauces, creating the perfect base for your own customized masterpiece. To pair with this, we will be serving chopped brisket, slow-cooked to tender perfection provided by Jack's Barbeque. To add an extra sparkle to our night, we’ll also be serving sparkling juice for toasting.Water and tea will also be available. We’re ending the evening on a sweet note: classic white vanilla cake, layered with silky buttercream frosting and cheesecake bites.

DRESSY CASUAL

We’re keeping things relaxed but polished for our celebration. Dressy casual means you don’t need to wear a suit or gown—but think beyond your everyday wear and lean more towards your Sunday best. Casual dresses, jumpsuits, blazers with dress pants, and nice boots or flats are all great options. Since our wedding colors include rich, deep tones—we’d love if you wore something in that spirit, or classic black and white. That said, this is a soft suggestion, not a requirement—please wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident! Our ceremony will be&nbsp;outdoors, and the reception will be&nbsp;indoors. Louisiana weather in December can be unpredictable—it might be chilly or unseasonably warm—so we recommend dressing in layers and bringing a warm coat just in case. Bottom line: dress to feel good, stay warm, and be ready to celebrate with us!
