Emma and Siegried's love story began back in 2013, when none other than their own cousin and brother wouldn’t stop pressuring them to get together. Eventually, Emma gave in and Facebook messaged Sieg apologizing for her cousin’s pestering. Once they got started messaging however, they didn’t stop! Emma and Siegfried had their first date in Madison at a coffee shop and then took a stroll up to the Monona Terrace. He even held her hand on the way back to the car! They starting officially dating long distance soon after, with Emma attending UW- Madison and Sieg attending UW- Platteville. They dated for a year and then experienced a hiccup in their relationship that caused them to part for a year. A time Emma has coined “the dark days.”

A year after splitting up, Emma and Sarah went to visit Claire at UW-Platteville. Siegfried found out she was down at the bars and got up the courage to give her a call. They ended up talking until 5am. The two officially started dating again June 12, 2016 and have been inseparable ever since! They survived long distance while Emma attended UW- Stout for graduate school and eventually, like a dream come true, moved to Oconomowoc together.

On July 26, 2019 Siegfried told Emma that he was leaving for a boys camping trip. He came home from work that night, packed his gear, and drove off. Fifteen minutes later he came rushing back in saying he had forgotten something. Emma questioned him about what it was and when he finally responded he said, “I forgot I’m not going!” Sieg then got down on one knee and the rest is history (hint: she said YES!!!)
