The Boise River Greenbelt follows its namesake river among towering trees, connecting downtown Boise with neighborhoods and the business district. Leading out of the city both north-west and south-east, the trail connects suburbs with parks and the Lucky Peak State Recreation Area.
The 46-mile trail is one of the area's most popular for its scenic views, wildlife and access to popular parks and recreation sites.
Hyde Park is the unofficial HQ for cyclists and mountain bikers from all over the region who frequent the many, excellent trails in the Boise Foothills, Hill Road and Bogus Basin to Cartwright Road. Hyde Park is also home to some of the best restaurants and specialty stores in the Treasure Valley. We love to visit this area for coffee, food, or hiking.
With more than 200 miles of trails surrounding the city, it’s no exaggeration to say that Boise is a haven for hikers. It’s also a great way for families to explore the rugged beauty of our high-desert ecosystem. Hiking is one of our favorite activities and is the best way to enjoy the beauty of Boise.
Boise Parks and Recreation maintains more than 90 developed parks across the city. We love to paddleboard at Esther Simplot Park, visit the rose garden at Julia Davis Park, and enjoy the beauty of Camel's Back Park.
Downtown has theaters, music venues, and a diverse dining and nightlife scene, ranging from seafood spots and steakhouses to nightclubs and whiskey bars. Along the Boise River, expansive Julia Davis Park is home to Zoo Boise, the Boise Art Museum, and the Idaho State Museum. Other landmarks include the State Capitol Building and the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial, a peaceful educational park.
At the Boise Farmers Market you will find fresh local seasonal vegetables and fruit, many types of locally raised protein, breads and pastries, honey, jams and sauces, fresh-roasted coffee, and a delicious selection of ready-to-eat foods. They always have the best of what is local and in season! We love biking to the market on Saturdays from April-October.
