Our Wedding

Our wedding reception will take place on November 21st, 2020 at 4:30pm in Sycamore, Illinois. We were married June 13th 2020 in California after canceling our original plans due to Covid-19!

COVID-19 Wedding Update

Although I had grown up going to summer camp with Emma, we became close after working together at a camp in college. She was the lifeguard and I was the boat driver, so our paths were bound to cross at some point. The whole summer I would come up with any excuse I could to be around her. On one occasion, I even radioed her to come rescue me because my boat had “broken down.” One of the things that impressed me the most about Emma was her love for others in the midst of incredibly hard circumstances. Throughout the summer, she broke her back, and even had a death in her family, and yet she continued to pour herself out for campers. Whenever a camper had a tough day, they would call Emma, and many campers that came into the swim area were more interested in talking to Emma than swimming. Towards the end of the summer, things were looking really good for me. I had convinced Emma to transfer to CBU (she will deny that I had any influence on her), except I hadn’t even expressed that I was interested in her. One night we went on a canoe ride, and after a lot of stalling I told her that I “really enjoyed spending time with her.” Although I wasn’t the least bit smooth, she understood what I meant, and a few weeks later we went on our first date at Blackberry Market in Glenn Ellyn Illinois. Dating Emma has been the most joy filled season of my life, and I’m so grateful God has allowed our paths to cross. The two of us have a blast together, although that’s thanks mostly to Emma. This past summer we went surfing almost every weekend, and even went skydiving. Not only is Emma a joy to be around, she pushes me to grow and love Jesus like I never have before. Her love for others is contagious, and her Love for the Lord is evident in everything that she does. In October I proposed to Emma in Laguna Beach. I had convinced her that we were going to a play, although things took a turn for the worse when she began to suspect things on the way to the beach. After an extremely nerve filled taco dinner, I walked her down the stairs at table rock beach. Our friends Shaun and Ronni had set up a blanket and candles in a secluded cove just as the sun was setting. After stuttering my way through telling Emma how much I loved her I asked Emma to marry me, and she said YES! After we get married we plan to live in Orange, California where I’ll be working at an Engineering firm, and Emma will be attending graduate school to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. We’re so excited for this next season of life together, and we are stoked to have all of you in our lives and at our wedding!!

Patrick is my best man!!&nbsp;Although his closet is color coordinated and my clothes are barely hung up, we've been best friends since freshman year.&nbsp;Patrick and I go through about a bag of coffee per week, so if you measure friendships on coffee consumption than that's about as close as you can get. We've been roommates for 3 years&nbsp; and he's played a huge part in who I&nbsp;am today.&nbsp;

Megan and I&nbsp;have been best friends since we were fourteen years old. We played basketball and softball together throughout high school and&nbsp;still managed to remain best friends even&nbsp;after living with each other for a couple of months;) Megan has seen me grow into who I&nbsp;am today and I tribute a huge part of that to the love and joy she and her family showed-and still show-&nbsp;me while at boarding school and throughout college.&nbsp;Megan's like a sister to me and I couldn't imagine anyone else standing next to me on my wedding day!

Peter is my little brother, and is the most hardworking and dedicated guy I know. In 2nd grade, he decided he would limit his fat intake to 8 grams per day...he’s had a six pack ever since. In all seriousness though I love Peter and I’m so proud to call him my brother!

Jordan and I have been good friends since we attended boarding school in Minnesota. She bends over backwards for other people, makes me laugh like no other, is constantly sarcastic, and is one of the most loyal people I know.&nbsp;She's been my friend through thick and thin and it's been awesome to grow from wild teenagers in boarding school&nbsp;to adults figuring out life together.&nbsp;I know she'll always be one of my closest friends :')

Jordan

Grace Gantz was a counselor with me at HoneyRock Camp in Three Lakes, WI. She's been one of my most supportive friends and has really helped me grow in my relationship with Christ. I only see her twice or three times a year, but whenever we're together, it feels like we never were apart. Because of this, I know she'll always be one of my greatest friends.

Mike and I became close friends in high school. Just about every crazy story I have from high school involves him in some way, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Aside from his wild side, Mike is one of the kindest and most genuine guys I know.

Michael 

Lo is my cousin/ little&nbsp;sister/ best friend all wrapped into one. After living with her for a summer after high school, we became inseparable and I don't think I've ever laughed harder with someone. She's outgoing, joyful, hilarious, weird,&nbsp; and one of my absolute favorite people to be around. Plus, she makes fun of Nathan almost as much as I do, which made it an easy decision to have her in my bridal party.

Lauren (Lo)

Duncan and I became friends I middle school as the two smallest kids on the football team (we were about 90 pounds). Short people in middle school tend to stick together and I know I can call Duncan with anything.

Ronni was one of my first friends when I transferred to California Baptist. We immediately bonded after finding out we both used to play goalie in soccer and had engineering boyfriends.&nbsp;She's one of the sweetest people I know and is a constant encourager. Not only is she one of my closest friends, she's also my roommate and puts up with me constantly. I'm so stoked for her to be a bridesmaid!

Ronni 

Josh is the kind of guy that doesn’t know how to complain. He’s one of the most consistent and easy going guys I know. I’m so excited that he married my sister, and I’m stoked to have him in my life.

Zack is my cousin and easily the chillest guy I’ve ever met. We grew up terrorizing our sisters with nerf guns, and have  been close ever since. Zack has played a huge role in my life this past year, and I’m excited for Emma and I to live near him!!

Anna-Joy & I go way back. We both attended a classical school in Wheaton,&nbsp;IL together and could be seen walking around in plaid skirts throughout our middle school years. However, we didn't become&nbsp;friends until&nbsp;Service Team at HoneyRock Camp the summer before my senior year of high school. Since then, Anna-Joy has been such a consistent friend who has known me at my best and at my worst, encouraging me in my relationship with Christ&nbsp;all the while, and I don't ever&nbsp;see that changing:)

Laura has one of the most outgoing, Jesus-loving, spunky personalities I know. I've had the privilege of getting to know her not only&nbsp;as Nathan's sister, but also as a close friend. She’s a constant encourager & hypes people up when they need it most. I can't wait&nbsp;to officially become her sister-in-law and look forward to the years to come!&nbsp;

When I met Jacob in 5th grade he was riding his scooter with rain boots on (he will tell you they were cowboy boots). Jacob was one of my closest friends growing up and he out fished me just about every time we hung out. Jacob is one of the most hardworking and honest men that I know and I’m blessed to have him as a friend!
