Jonah and Emmi met in high school during their 11th grade year. Emmi went to Taylor High School and Jonah, although home schooled, was often there with his mother who worked at the school.
It wasn’t until their senior year when Jonah started taking Economics and Physics, that the two really started to interact.
At the beginning of the school year, they were the only two taking Economics in the computer lab, so they were naturally seated together. With Jonah being reserved and Emmi being a social butterfly, she quickly forced him to become her friend and it didn’t take long for them to become close.
Much to Jonah’s initial dismay, he and Emmi started to become friends. Over time, they became best friends and practically inseparable.
It was easy for the two to share things about their interests, opinions, and lives in general with each other. They bonded over their love of video games and geeky interests, not to mention Emmi introducing Jonah to bagel bites for the first time (they are truly life-changing)!
It was clear there was a deeper love and appreciation between the two. Although it took Emmi longer than she’d care to admit, they quickly fell in love with each other.
Their first official date was June 26, 2020. Jonah took them to Hobby Lobby (Emmi’s favorite store) and the Bossier City Boardwalk, where he gave her a very nice dinner and a promise ring that she never took off.
Since the start of their relationship, Jonah and Emmi knew they were meant to be together. They both truly believe that God put them together to be life partners and glorify Him in everything that they do, including marriage.
With that being said, the couple dated for almost 5 years before Jonah popped the question.
After deciding Jonah wanted to join the Marine Corps in the summer of 2024, the two started to make plans on what their lives would look like. They both agreed that they wanted to be married sometime soon when Jonah would start his military career.
Fast forward to November 30, 2024…Emmi was under the impression that her family had to run Christmas errands in Bossier City while her, Jonah, and Jonah’s sister, Sarah, were coincidentally going to Starbucks and to eat at Salt Grass. Without giving too many details, Emmi and Jonah were supposed to “take pictures” of them together as a favor for Emmi’s mom.
While at the Boardwalk, Sarah pretended to be taking a picture of them (while actually recording) when Jonah got down on one knee and proposed. Emmi being surprised would be an understatement, especially when their parents and sisters were there to greet them and congratulate them.
It was a very special day that neither of them will ever forget. They can’t wait to start their happily ever after with all of their friends and family by their side!
