Our Wedding

We first crossed paths on May 3rd, 2019, on the breathtaking island of St. Maarten, both of us on the brink of our medical school adventure. Little did we know that this picturesque setting would ignite the spark of our future together. Initially, we intended to focus solely on our studies, avoiding any distractions, including friendships or relationships. However, when Melanie chose to sit next to Emory on the first day of class, everything changed. From that moment on, we were practically inseparable, navigating the rollercoaster of medical school side by side, all while pushing aside the undeniable chemistry building between us. Our personalities complemented each other perfectly which created a dynamic that made every challenge feel surmountable. As we supported each other through the toughest challenges, our friendship deepened into something truly special, an undeniable bond that deepened with time. Then came the unexpected pause of the world as COVID-19 forced us into remote learning.&nbsp;During that chaotic time, we realized that our connection was stronger than distance; it only intensified our feelings. Determined to give our love a real chance, Emory made a bold move, leaving Texas to stay with Melanie and her family in North Carolina. Together, we created unforgettable memories during our last two years of medical school. Then came the exhilarating day of March 17, 2023—Match Day, when we discovered we had landed our top choice for residency! The excitement was electric, and that evening, with hearts racing, Emory dropped to one knee and asked Melanie to marry him. Overwhelmed with joy, she said yes! Our journey had taken a thrilling turn, and we couldn’t wait for what lay ahead.
