You miss 100% of the shots you never take

Picture of You miss 100% of the shots you never take

It was a sunny September afternoon, the kind where everything feels possible. He had just sent a message to Farah, a message he had agonized over for months ever since he saw her for the first time at his best friend's wedding. “Farah, don’t take this the wrong way but I would love nothing more but to take you for dinner and have a great time with you.” He knew it was a bold move, especially since they lived thousands of miles apart, but he had to take the chance.

His phone buzzed with anticipation as he sent a follow-up message: “I know this may be too much to ask but do you think you can send me your number?” He could barely breathe as he waited for her response, his heart pounding in his chest.

Moments later, his phone buzzed again, and she sent her number. With a mixture of excitement and nerves, he dialed her number. The phone rang, each ring amplifying his anxiety.

“Hello?” Farah’s voice was warm, her tone immediately putting him at ease despite the miles between them.

“Hi, Farah, it’s me,” he said, trying to keep his voice steady. They exchanged greetings, and despite the physical distance, the connection was instant.

They started talking about their lives, their hopes, and their dreams. She told him about her love for sunsets on the beach, and he shared his passion for hiking in the mountains. Despite the distance, it felt as though they were sitting together, sharing these moments side by side.

Hours passed as they spoke, their laughter bridging the gap between them. They discussed their favorite movies, their childhood memories, and the little quirks that made them who they were. The conversation flowed effortlessly, and by the end of the call, it felt as though they had known each other forever.

As they hung up, he couldn’t help but smile. The first call had been more than just an exchange of words; it had been a glimpse into a future that, despite the distance, felt incredibly close. They both knew that the road ahead wouldn’t be easy, but with their connection, it was a journey they were excited to embark on together...

To be continued... <3
