How We Met And Started Dating As Told By Enya

I met Adam while working as a waitress at The Market Street Diner in Sun Prairie WI in 2017. He was a regular who always sat at the counter, but I had never really spoken to him much due to the other waitresses being assigned to help him, and I was always busy when I was behind the counter. That said, he always seemed nice, and all the other waitresses liked him a lot and would sneak him free desserts. It wasn’t until Halloween when we started really talking. I dressed up as one of my favorite characters from an amazing anime that Ross had introduced me to called One Piece. Adam, who apparently already thought I was cute, thought my costume was absolutely adorable and used it as an excuse to get the courage to talk to me. He said he had always wanted to watch the show, and so we spent a long time talking about it between my time spent waiting on other tables. This led to us talking at other times when he came into the diner and exchanging contact info, and not long after he asked me out; However, I said no. I insisted that we be friends first at least because I did not want to date anyone without really knowing them first. As a result, we started hanging out to watch One Piece in my moms basement. Now for those of you who are not familiar; One Piece is one of the longest anime ever and had about 550 episodes out and dubbed (in English) around when we started hanging out, and now, at the time of writing this story, there are around 900 dubbed episodes (there are over 1000 subbed), so starting to watch this show together was already a commitment in and of itself. Eventually, around January, 30th 2018, Adam attempted to ask me to date him again, and, with some debate, I finally said yes. It was the best decision of my life, and we have been happily together ever since.

Our Engagement As Told By Enya

The way Adam proposed was he led me on a little scavenger hunt on my favorite holiday, Beltane, which is May 1st (some call it May Day). I woke up to a post-it-note on my phone and an empty apartment (other than our cats.) The note led me to another note, and another, and another. Each with various clues on them. Eventually, they led me out to the gazebo next to the pond at the nature reserve park that was across from our apartment building. Once there, Adam got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes.
