Who is the groom? Erian Houston, better known as Rudy, is from Memphis, TN and is the second child of 4 boys. He has a 9 year old son, Erian Jr, who took his entire humorous personality - there is never a dull moment with these two. Rudy is a former personal trainer and massage therapist and now spends his time behind the wheel of semi-trucks.

Who is the bride? Carmon Smith is from Memphis, TN but spent many years in St. Louis, MO where her maternal family still resides. Her family is widespread so she travels throughout the year going between St. Louis, Detroit, Atlanta and Cincinnati. She is a Regional Vice President in finance and the second oldest of 7 siblings…she’s been a boss her entire life.

How did they meet? They became social media friends in 2020 from having a mutual friend, Amber. Amber is Rudy’s cousin and Carmon’s hair stylist. Carmon saw that he was a massage therapist and became a client in 2021 - best massage EVER! After several appointments, Rudy asked her on a date. Their first date was at Huey’s, which they still frequent today.

How did he propose? Rudy proposed to Carmon on Thanksgiving ‘23 in front of family and friends with her dad as an accomplice. They hosted the holiday and Rudy brought Carmon to the front of the room to thank her for slaving away all night. He gifted her a necklace presented by her dad all while on one knee behind her. He knew he had to throw her off because her antennas are always on alert. She wiped her tears and shook her head yes holding back the ugly cry.

Who is the couple together? Carmon and Rudy are great friends that do EVERYTHING together. They are each other’s plus one and enjoy trying new things. You can catch them at the movies, bowling, enjoying a Broadway show at the Orpheum Theater, trying new restaurants and traveling outside of the city. The laughs, inside jokes and synergy make it obvious they have a strong partnership if you’re ever in the same room with them.
