Eric and Amanda’s story began with a simple download of an app called “Hinge”. They swiped, hearted photos, and began their first conversation.
Eric opened with a zinger and Amanda laughed it off. The conversation flowed easily, so easily that Eric decided to call Amanda for the first time while he was leaving a date gone-wrong. They both realized how committed to the Christian faith the other was. After that conversation, one thing was certain for Amanda: this was a really special person.
Their relationship grew strong through long distance communication. Eric and Amanda both realized that they should probably meet face to face.
Eric arrived in the land of the peaches, Georgia. They went kayaking, food touring, and sight-seeing, all the while celebrating Saint Paddy’s day in Savannah. After Eric was baptized in the Ogeechee River by tipping his kayak, he saw the light: Amanda would one day be his wife.
After many more months, Amanda officially moved back to the great state of Texas. Joy, laughter, and an abundance of fun was had by the couple. So many signs pointed to the future. The couple felt that God had a plan for this union and in August 2022, Eric proposed to Amanda on the first day of school. With the sunset behind him, he kneeled down and said; “I know this is your first day of school, but I want this to be the first day of the rest of our lives.”
Eric and Amanda are thankful to God that He used a simple app to bring two people together. The couple both extend thanks to family and friends for their support and encouragement and ask for continued prayers as they navigate engagement and marriage.
