The title of this story is the first words that flew out of my mouth on Pebble Beach, at Split Rock Lighthouse, in Duluth MN after I turned around to find Eric had paused in talking to me and was kneeling before me holding a ring box. He had said some lovely things before that, about how we had shared a lovely moment at this very beach some eight or nine years ago and he kept saying lovely things while opening the box, but all I could hear in my mind was a flood of memories and adoration, blood rushing to my brain, tears mounting in my eyes, hands shaking and words blabbing forth inelegantly until they formed the word, "YES!"

And that is what it is like to be with the man I love. Eric constantly surprises me with moments that make me say "This is Happening? To me? Really??" When he looks at me, there is a deepness of love that human measurement is not allowed to meter. When he holds me, it is with a gentle strength that tells me that he will never let me go, but he will always let me leap. He builds my confidence, he encourages my growth and he cheers my success. He comforts my sorrow and he understands my heart and my mind. I can only hope I give him the same amount of compassion.



When we first met, in the summer of 2005, we discovered we had a lot in common even before we shared words and glances. We both lived in the same St Paul neighborhood for seven years, took the same buses to work downtown, ate at the same lunch spots and worked on the same block - but we had never once met or remembered seeing each at the bus stop, waiting in line, shopping the farmer's market outside his theater. It wasn't until he moved to Uptown in Minneapolis, where I currently lived and we shared a meal and a movie. Over food we found out we both liked many similar things and we laughed a lot. I don't remember a lot of the movie because part way through we started to hold hands and the only thought in my mind was "This is Happening?"



And it continued on for nearly six years. Moments of amazement and memory. He would plan these lovely getaways, date nights, surprises at home and my mind would still say "Really? This is Happening, for me?"



And then we hit a spot of trouble. We had to separate for almost six years to learn how to become better men, each of us on a separate journey of growth, discovering how to live without hurting ourselves and those around us. But we never lost contact and we never stopped being a small part of each other's lives. Eric continued to encourage, support, congratulate and help me and I tried my best to do the same. 



And then, one weekend, on a visit to the Cities, we met for dinner and a comedy show during Pride 2016 and this little voice in my head said "What if? Could this be Happening again?"



The following month, another weekend for the Fringe Festival brought us together and I looked into Eric's eyes and there it was. That depth. And the world shut out and the blood rushed to my head and my mind rejoiced screaming "This is Happening!!"



Well my friends, this IS Happening. We are together and we would like you to join us in Joining us together in wedded union, "husband and husband" as a good friend once called us when she was a extremely smart child. This is Happening and we would love nothing more than to share this Happening with You. The day I get to look into those eyes, say "Yes" and hopefully remember everything that is said before and after. My love. My wonderful constant love. My Mr E. Besides always reminding Eric he is  the oldest sibling of the family by her merely being born, Katie also keeps him young with her spirit and her drive to live life to the fullest. She is amazing and she encourages Eric to be the best big brother possible. Chris appreciates having a "fellow fifth-born" to bond with and appreciates her endless Snapchats.

Travis and Chris are so opposite they somehow couldn't get rid of each other, try as hard as they could for 27 years. Through ups and downs, near and far, days and distances Travis has always made sure Chris was doing things that were true to who he was in challenges and success. So happy he can be here from Texas for our special day!

Dave and Chris were 30-day roommates in 2012 and he is an amazing friend, partner on pastry runs and steady inspiration for recovery. He also keeps Eric entertained and in just the right amount of trouble while Chris is  working. He helps Chris more than he knows and more than his humble nature will admit.

Eric has known Chari since college in 1991.  They both were very active in University Theatre and worked blocks apart for 17 years in downtown Saint Paul at their mutual theatre jobs.  Chari has been a constant friend and inspiration.

First just a sister of a college friend, then neighbor, then roommate but ALWAYS an amazing woman of tremendous love. Cookie has lived with the best of Chris and lived through the worst and was still there in the end. When Chris was at his lowest, her words that "the world wants you back" always rang in his ears. She is a blessing and we are so happy she can be with us!

What to say about Jase Roe?&nbsp; Jase is one of those friends you are so lucky to have.&nbsp; He is a constant source of inspiration. I have so much respect for how he lives his life every day.&nbsp; He is always there to provide support and wisdom&nbsp;and, of course, to&nbsp;have a good time!&nbsp;&nbsp; If you happen to be a fan of The Jason Show, you can often see Jase in the studio audience!
