Our Wedding

We met on Wilder's first day of college at UW-Madison in Arabic 101. Despite several semesters and many hours of diligent study, our relationship is the greatest takeaway. We were friends for several years while we were dating other people, spending many hours speaking French and Arabic together over mugs of mint tea at Mediterranean Cafe on State Street. Wilder and I had intense, long-ranging conversations while he walked me to class (I was often late - sorry, Botany professor!). Wilder seized the opportunity to tell me how he felt soon after I graduated in 2016, and we've been together ever since. We share many commonalities, big and small: family history in Baraboo, a desire for close community, a soft spot for Chocolate Shoppe ice cream, etc. We've made a cozy home for ourselves on the east side of Madison, and will welcome just about anyone for a home-cooked meal, a conversation, and a snuggle with our dog Rala.Our wedding is a celebration of many things - our love of family, music, DIY projects, southern Wisconsin, the bittersweet transition from summer to fall - but especially the way that we are products of our environment and our community. "Our" story is more than just the two of us - it has been shared along every step of the way with our family, friends and neighbors. We look forward to your presence at our special celebration.

Our Story

Our room block code is 09042021AD. Traditional hotel rooms are available (for 2 or 4), as well as six condos (closer to AirBnB style accommodations) that have room for 10.

A great selection of mostly used books in the coziest bookstore we can imagine. This place is a local gem!

The Village Booksmith

Baraboo is the home of the Ringling Brothers Circus. The Museum is open 9 AM to 4 PM the weekend of the wedding.

Can't Wait to See Your (Masked) Faces!

Well folks, we didn’t quite know how the world would look in September 2021 but we are having a COVID-era wedding through and through! We had to make some tough decisions about how to protect all our guests during our wedding day. We are only including vaccinated people, or those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons (mainly children under the age of 12). As much as we possibly could, we tried to ensure that wedding vendors are vaccinated. Wilder and I strive to be affirming of people with different experiences and beliefs, but this is one case where we are prioritizing the safety of our community at any cost. In addition, we are requiring masks for all guests. We understand that breakthrough infections are possible even with a vaccine. Masks should be worn at all times except when eating or drinking or if properly distanced outside. There is a balcony and lawn space available for our use at the reception venue. The wedding party will not wear masks during the ceremony and the bride and groom will likely mask on and off throughout the day. When in doubt, ask the people around you if they are ok with you removing your mask. If yours gets too sweaty on the dance floor, we will have some disposable medical masks available. Thanks for helping us get through our wedding day safely. It’s time for us to get married already!!
