Q + A

When should we book our flights?

Generally, whenever you feel like you have seen the best price. / Leo and I have booked our flights (DL0275) through Delta and plan to fly out on the 5th, arriving in Japan on the 6th of November. Remember there is a 12-14 hour time difference and you do not want to arrive just before the wedding day or you will be extremely tired and jetlagged.

When should we book our hotel room for the wedding?

You should book as much in advance as possible prior to the actual wedding date 11/11/2024. Reminder that check-in is at 3pm, but the wedding starts at 1:30, so I’d recommend staying two nights. Or at a nearby hotel. Remember Room Pricing is per person. Breakfast, dinner, hotel stay, use of public bath house are included in the price. Spa services are extra. What hotels should we stay at?

If you’re traveling bougie on a budget I suggest booking an APA Hotel, they’re all over major cities of Japan and include an onsen in the basement. However, if you can afford the finer things in life you could always look for booking “Prince Hotels” which are also found in popular cities in Japan. Otherwise I’d consult with the father of the bride (Eric Heard).

When or where should we buy train passes, park tickets and WIFI?

Download the KLOOK app to find affordable JR Passes (traveling the Shinkansen aka bullet train) and also park tickets such as UNIVERSAL STUDIOS etc and other attractions on this app. WiFi can also be found here. Also keep in mind it’s better to buy these passes before you enter Japan. Especially the PARK passes to Universal. Give yourselves at least 3 months to book in advance!

Will there be an “after-party” post reception

Yes! Technically there will be a Taiko drum show following the dinner reception! However this is open to all Hotel guests.

How are rooms priced in Japan?

In Japan, hotels charge per guest NOT per room. At Kaneyamaen (the wedding venue), the room is about ¥35,000/night per person. This roughly equates to $246.00 dollars (x2 if you book two to a room). Not all hotels are this expensive. You can find good deals on Priceline and Expedia etc as well! Do your research!

What dates will the Bride and Groom be in Japan!?

Our tentative schedule is from the 5th to the 21st. Only dates we kindly require your attendance is 11/11/25! However, we have shared our itinerary for your convenience if you’d like to participate in our other plans as well! I would suggest planning your own trip and joining us on big days like Universal Studios and visiting Kyoto etc.

What places or cities do you recommend for first time visitors!?

Please check the Wanderlog app which I have the link mentioned in the QR code of your save the date. I have created two links you can follow: 1) the bride and groom Itinerary and 2) a list of places to see and do. I suggest you also use the app to plan your own itinerary as it gives many suggestions of places and sights to see, uses google maps and also has an optimize route feature to plan each day! The app also has its own recommended travel itineraries in case you just want the app to do it all for you! 😃

What airport should I fly into?

If you’re flying into Tokyo I would fly into Haneda airport (HND). However there is also Narita (NRT) or Osaka (KIX) or (ITM). The bride and groom will be flying in on the 5th into Tokyo.
