With senior year of college coming to an end, Erica (at JMU) and myself (at Virginia Tech) had a couple of months left before going into the real world.

Luckily, both of us went to Key West for spring break...and even luckier, we found ourselves at the same bar. I mustered up the courage (thanks to a couple shots..) to go up to the most beautiful girl who was waiting in line at the bar, Erica. I already had my drink (a pina colada of course) and without any hesitation, Erica started eating the fruit out of my cup! I thought this was a good sign.

After a quick conversation where we realized we had a bunch of mutual friends and lived close to each other back home, we exchanged numbers and went off on our ways.

It wasn’t until after we graduated that we reconnected and hit it off. After many dates, I asked Erica to be my girlfriend on Thanksgiving eve in 2017.

Soon after that, Erica convinced me that we needed a dog, so we got Nala! And what an amazing decision. She completes our family and provides us with a lot of joy and a lot of laughs. After a couple moves with roommates all over Arlington and DC, we finally moved in together in 2022!

Fast forward to Thanksgiving 2023 (exactly 6 years after asking her to be my girlfriend), I drove 4 hours to surprise Erica who was down at her dad's house to ask her to marry me. Making it the best day of our lives and the start of forever.
