The Beginning

Our story begins more than 10 years ago at a cookout hosted by Jason Seas. Jason was a coach for the team that Noah Jordan played for. After one of these sessions, I currently forget if it was practice or a game. Forgive me. However, on the way to this cookout, I was warned that there was a girl there two years younger than me that talked a lot. I responded with a simple, "Ok." Back then, I didn't talk much so having someone to hold the conversation seemed not all that bad. We arrived at the cookout where the grill master was already at his station cooking away with burgers and hot dogs on the grill. Ericka Seas was helping by bringing out condiments and buns and getting things ready for people to arrive. She came out the door as I stepped onto the back porch. Jason introduced her and my mother, Niena Varney, introduced me. Ericka and I talked and eventually were involved in a game of hide and seek in the woods that lined the property. After that night over the next 8 or so years, we kept seeing each other when our families came together for certain events but never one on one. Fast forward some and with some growth in maturity, I eventually asked her to date me. It was off and on for the first couple of years. Even when we weren't dating, we still attended the same events we would have before we were dating. I was still seeing Ericka around and was still hanging out with her. Ericka and I talked through some stuff and I asked her out once again after some sessions of playing Luigi's Mansion 3 and not being able to stop thinking about her. I remember that night. I went home to where I was staying with my mother, Niena. I told her that I had never felt a deeper connection than with her. Playing video games, being nerdy, talking about star wars, her asking questions about larping and Dungeons and Dragons, asking questions about Renaissance fairs. I hadn't met another that compared. That was three years ago. One year ago, we attended Eastern North Carolina Ren Fair, after a bit of convincing and once the park was empty, she sat in the queens chair where I proposed to her. Since then we have gone through trial after trial and getting better everyday. Building each other up and improving the world around us the best we can. Now, we ask each of you to come and be a part of yet another moment in our lives and celebrate. Most fairy tales end with a wedding, ours includes one.
