It all began on the evening of 9 June 2023 in a cozy pub, where Marike and her friend first met one of Erik’s friends. Little did she know, that simple introduction would change her life forever. Erik’s friend introduced Marike to Erik, a quiet yet charming man who immediately caught her attention.

Erik was captivated by Marike from the start, but his shyness made it hard for him to take the next step. Noticing his sweet hesitance, Marike decided to make the first move. With a confident smile, she handed him her number, breaking the ice and starting something magical.

A week later, Erik called and asked Marike out for dinner and a movie. That first date was full of laughter, connection, and a spark they both couldn’t deny. Just two weeks later, Erik invited Marike to join him on a holiday to Sodwana Bay. It was during this getaway, on 15 July 2023, that Erik asked Marike to be his girlfriend, sealing their bond in a place as beautiful as their growing love.

On 28 March 2024, Erik took their love story to new heights—literally. During a romantic holiday in Cape Town, he brought Marike to the breathtaking Chapman's Peak. With the ocean stretching endlessly before them, Erik got down on one knee and asked Marike to be his forever. With tears of joy, she said “yes.”
