Our Wedding

It all started with Madi complaining to David, a Capital Fellow with Madi and a childhood friend of Erik, about her lack of a love life. The next morning, Madi got a text from David: “…how do you feel about a blind date?” Her response? “Honestly? Kinda terrified but I trust you.” David replied: “omg I cannot even describe the click potential” and the rest is, as they say, history.&nbsp; They went on to have 6 hour blind date with mediocre food and a bad Marvel movie, but great conversation and laughter. From there, they went on to explore hole-in-the-wall restaurants, have many a Mario Party date, get Costco chicken bakes in 4 different states, start following F1, adopt a retired bomb dog to fulfill Madi’s childhood dream of having a German Shepherd, serve at youth group, build new community (shoutout Survivor Night and YouthFam), and pray, hope, cry, and encourage one another through the ups and downs of the next three years.&nbsp; On November 2nd, Erik and Madi got together for what was promised to be a quiet night of making fish and chips and watching the second season of The Diplomat. Following a few quick rounds of Mario Kart Wii to kill some time (Erik performed abnormally, placing 4th and prompting Madi to ask if everything was okay and what his mind was on), they drove to Fort Meyers for “bowling”. A quick stop at the park by the Netherlands Carillon resulted in Erik getting down on one knee and many joyful tears. The couple celebrated at their favorite 5-star dive bar, SpaceBar, for a prearranged candlelit dinner of grilled cheese and tatertots and then a celebratory party at the Tyson’s house surrounded by family and friends.&nbsp; Which brings them to today, where they are preparing to say “I do” and start a new life together.&nbsp; We are grateful for the many people who have come alongside us and we covet your prayers and continued fellowship as we prepare to start a new life together!

The wedding ceremony is in McLean and the reception is in Arlington, near East Falls Church. The Orange and Silver metro lines that stop at East Falls Church, Ballston, Court House, and Clarendon provide the easiest transportation into DC. Each of these areas also have many restaurants and shops in easy walking distance. As we reserve additional hotel blocks, we will update this page!
