How we met...

Picture of How we met...

The picture above is our very first picture together!

Erika's version:

Jordan and I met on the very first day of college during our freshmen orientation week. My newfound friend that lived on my same dorm floor, Sammy Hansen, knew all the "Somerset" boys. They had an outdoor movie playing on campus that the "Somerset" boys were at. Sammy introduced me to all those boys but they were too interested in the movie so there wasn't much conversation :)... therefore we decided to go have our own fun. The next night we went to my sister, Kari's, house. We decided to give those boys another chance and invited them over. Jordan and I instantly hit it off and we talked the whole night about our families, the cabins, what we like to do, etc. We exchanged numbers and began texting almost every day. I remember getting butterflies when Jordan's name would pop up on my phone. He would invite me on "caf" dates, we would go on nightly walks, or have fun doing random college shenanigans. By January of our freshmen year, we began dating. It has been an amazing 5+ years together and I can't wait for many more!

Jordan's version:

On the second day of college us boys were naturally looking for a place to hangout and have a few drinks. A friend from high school, Sammy Hansen, had told us she knew of someone on her floor that had a sister who had a house we could go to. This happened to be Erika and we went to her sister, Kari's house. When we arrived, I was introduced to the beautiful, Erika Larson. As the first semester of college went by, we hung out on a daily basis and got to know each other very well. When Erika went to Mexico for a week on a family vacation, I wasn't able to contact her. This is when I knew I was in love because I was so irritated that I couldn't talk to her and I couldn't wait to see her next!

Our Proposal

Picture of Our Proposal

In June 2016, we took a vacation to Florida with Jordan's family. Jordan and I had been talking for a long time about getting engaged but Jordan had told me numerous times that he still wanted to save money. I had accepted that we wouldn't get engaged for a while so needless to say.. this was a COMPLETE surprise. Anyway.. on our second to last day, we were taking a trip to New Smyrna beach along the ocean. As soon as we got there, I noticed how beautiful it was and asked Jordan to take a walk with me. He replied that he was going to buy a football to throw around with Dan-his stepdad (little did I know he was going to the car to get the ring). I decided to head down to the water with his Mom. Once down there, Jordan followed shortly behind and said him and Dan decided not to go get the ball so we could go on our walk. While on our walk, I was mainly doing all the talking (I know..big surprise) and collecting sea shells. We had been walking awhile when Jordan saw a bridge up ahead and suggested we go see where it leads to (I didn't think anything of it...). I was glad to go see where the bridge went. As we were getting closer, Jordan asked me what was in my hand and I reminded him they were sea shells. At that point, I could see the bridge didn't lead anywhere and suggested we go back towards the water to stay cool. Jordan didn't respond... still didn't think anything of that as it is quite typical of him to be slow in his responses :) By then, we were within 5 steps of the bridge so I again suggested we go back towards the water. When he didn't respond again, that is when I was thinking something may be happening. We went up the steps and Jordan fidgeted with my hands and asked me again what was in them. That is when I KNEW he was going to propose. Jordan got down on one knee and said some thoughtful words before asking me to marry him. I was and still am the HAPPIEST girl in the whole world.

I later found out, that Jordan had talked to my dad, mom, sister, and best friends informing them of his plans. I was SO surprised that I had no clue whatsoever :)
