Brett and Erika had originally met in high school at a mutual friends house out at Woodland Resort. A few days after that night, Erika got a notification on Snapchat saying that Brett Peterson wanted to be friends on snapchat. Erika wasn't sure who he was so she had to ask her friend and her friend told her that it was one of the guys that showed up at the house.

Fast forward 6 years, it was Erika's 21st birthday and Brett reached out on snapchat to wish her a Happy Birthday. Erika replied with a "thank you" and that was it.

A couple days later Brett sent Erika a snapchat about the Step Brothers movie and the rest was history. What a love story! HA!

Fast forward 5 years, Erika and Brett went to Lankin one weekend in July to help Erika's parents with a house project. Brett, Erika and Austin (Erika's younger brother) went out on a Ranger ride around Erika's hometown. They wanted to show Brett this cool spot out in the country where there are hills and ones so high you could see several of the small towns around the area from that hill top. It was a perfect July evening, the sun was shining and the weather was warm.

Erika was walking away with her back towards Brett because she thought they were getting ready to get back in the Ranger and leave. Erika looked up at her brother and noticed he had his cell phone out and it looked like he was recording so she turned back around to look at Brett. She saw him down on one knee and she thought he was joking so she turned back around and Austin grabbed her shoulders and turned her back around. That was when Erika saw the little black box in Brett's hand. She knew that it wasn't a joke. She couldn't believe it was finally happening after 5 years!! She kept asking Brett "are you sure?" She couldn't form words because she was so shocked and surprised!

It was such a fun way to end the weekend and to do it back in Erika's hometown was even more special for her!
