There is a man in Los Angeles who started a band in 2006. Hell of a band. I love them. Turned out there was someone in Ohio who really loved them too. And I was gonna meet that guy someday…..because of that band and that man in Los Angeles (a city I’ve never been to)….and that guy would be the love of my life. Wouldn’t it be a kick to find out that many loves were found, and babies were made because you decided to started a band? ~Erika~

Don’t let him tell you otherwise. Mike made the first move. Mike sent me a friend request. Mike started a game of Word With Friends with me. Mike asked me for my number. Mike made the first move. Probably a good thing he did too….if he’d have waited for me, we’d still be waiting.~Erika~

He made the first move….

He might have made the first move, but I said “I Love You” first. It took a year after we started dating and I didn’t even have the balls to say it to his face. I sent him a greeting card….”blah blah blah….I Love You”. And then I mailed it….it was the longest, most anxiety-filled 2 days of my life. When he got it, he texted me right away and said “I Love You too” and we talked about all the times we’d almost said it before, how long we’d been wanting to say it. So that was it. It was love. ~Erika~

I Love You

During a conversation in a hotel room in the summer of 2022 (we don’t remember which city or hotel), I decided we should get married. By Christmas of that year, I decided I was popping the question in 2023. I knew nothing about wedding rings, so I began a crash course in rings that, with the help of Josh Bookman of Bookman and Sons, only took me three days to complete before making a decision. I had planned on taking more time and asking her on our Labor Day vacation, but that’s not how it ended up. Josh ordered the ring for me in January, and by early the next month, it was in my possession. I took it with me for a Muse concert trip to Chicago, and on February 24 at Curry House (our favorite restaurant), that’s where it happened. Eventually, she remembered to say yes. ~Mike
