Our Story

Riviera Maya, Mexico

The&nbsp;Riviera Maya is a&nbsp;tourism&nbsp;and&nbsp;resort&nbsp;district south of&nbsp;Cancun,&nbsp;Mexico. It straddles the coastal&nbsp;Federal Highway 307, along the&nbsp;Caribbean&nbsp;coastline of the&nbsp;state&nbsp;of&nbsp;Quintana Roo, located in the eastern portion of the&nbsp;Yucatán Peninsula.

Please note, ONLY TRS guests staying at TRS Yucatan will have to access TRS Yucatan. TRS guests will have access to all resorts, which includes White Sands, Colonial, &amp; Kantenah. Guests staying at White Sands will NOT have access to the TRS Resort and will only have access to White Sands, Colonial, &amp; Kantenah.

There are a certain number of each Room Option available and are on a first come, first serve basis.

There are additional Room Options available if guests would prefer one outside of those listed above at both TRS and White Sands. Please reach out to Liberty Travel if you would like to book a Room Option that is not listed above as well as to check availability and for a discounted rate.

Accommodations

Cancun International Airport (CUN) is the closest airport to Grand Palladium Resorts in Riviera Maya and is approximately 1.5 hours away.

Flights are NOT included in the registration for your stay. Flights must be booked by guests on their own, however, Liberty Travel is available to assist if needed.

There is a Shared Transfers option when booking your stay for $70 per person, round trip. This option means Liberty Travel will obtain flight information from guests and will set up transportation to and from the resort. This transportation will be shared with other guests from the resort as well as other resorts along the way, which could make the trip longer. Guests are welcome to set up their own shared or private transfers as well. FAQ from Liberty Travel "What are airport transfers?" Airport transfers are transportation from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport. They are provided by one of our many reputable tour operators in destination. If you opt not to include airport transfers, you will need to make your own arrangements from the airport to the hotel and back. This is not recommended. "Do I need to pay for the airport transfers when I make my reservation? "We recommend adding airport transfers upon registration however they do not need to be paid until your final payment date.

The day has finally come!&nbsp;We can’t wait to see you in Mexico to enjoy a vacation and of course, our wedding on May 28, 2022.&nbsp; We are so excited you'll be here to celebrate with us! Since Jake and I have not traveled to the resort ourselves, another bride kindly shared the information below that was given to her guests prior to arrival. While it is a little long, there is some good information to note while you are getting ready for your trip!

Travel Information

CUSTOMS &amp; IMMIGRATION:Duty Free Allowances:&nbsp;Know your allowances before entering Mexico, so that you can accurately make your declarations and understand any additional duties on any items you are importing.&nbsp;They will be mostly concerned about the amount of alcohol, cigarettes, and cash (over $10,000 USD) you bring with you.&nbsp;And remember you can always buy this stuff at the Duty-Free store upon arrival.&nbsp;Do NOT bring any plants or food.&nbsp;Remember we are going to an all-inclusive resort, so there should really be no need to bring food or alcohol with you. Per the website, TRAVEL ADVISORY:&nbsp;If you are flying to Mexico the form is&nbsp;FREE,&nbsp;however, most commercial airlines&nbsp;NO LONGER&nbsp;hand out immigration forms. We strongly recommend you fill out your form(s)&nbsp;ONLINE for FREE&nbsp;so you don't delay your immigration process when you arrive in Mexico...so please use the link above to print one out and fill it in prior. CUSTOMS FORM:When you arrive to Mexico you will need to complete a "Customs Form." Normally you will get this form in the plane on your way to Mexico. The Customs Form is ONE per family, so you just need to complete ONE form for everybody that is traveling together and LIVE together. Please note, this can NOT be filled out prior. PROCESS AT THE AIRPORT:Once you land, you will proceed to immigration first.&nbsp;Once it is your turn, you will approach the counter as an individual, family or couple (however you filled out the paperwork).&nbsp;You will need your passport and customs forms.&nbsp;They will then give you a portion of your customs form back.&nbsp;DO NOT LOSE THIS!&nbsp;You will need it when departing Mexico back to the US. We suggest locking this up in your safe along with your passport immediately upon checking into your room. FYI, you should not have to show your passport again until you reach the resort.After immigration you will move to baggage claim, then you will head to customs. This is where knowing your allowances will come in handy if you are selected for a random search. If you are bringing in items they will tax you on anything over your allowable limit.&nbsp;See the link above to determine limits.They do random searches at customs and if one person in your group is selected, usually the entire group is selected. Big groups tend to attract more attention. If you are selected, don’t worry, it's not a big deal, it will just take a little extra time to get through customs and to your transfer.&nbsp; TRANSFERS:Once you go through customs you will follow the path outdoors to where all the transfer and taxi companies are. This tends to be quite a madhouse, so hang on to your belongings closely and ignore anyone trying to sell you any services. Guests that booked shared transfers through Liberty Travel should receive information with instructions on how to locate the transfer company who will be waiting outside the Cancun airport terminal for you. Guests that book their own transfer will have to arrange accordingly. CELL PHONES, CREDIT CARDS, MONEY:You may need to add an additional plan onto your phone plan, such as a travel package if you intend on using cell service in Mexico. There is free Wi-Fi at the resort, which is pretty good. It is also recommended that you call and let your bank know you will be traveling, so that there are no issues with using your credit card. USD and Pesos are both accepted at the resort. There are ATMs at the resort but the one that dispenses USD charges a huge fee so we recommend bringing cash with you. PACKING REMINDERS:In your carry on, we recommend you should have important medications, all valuables, a bathing suit, and anything you will need before your room is ready.&nbsp; APPS YOU MIGHT WANT TO DOWNLOAD:Grand Palladium App – This gives you a list of which restaurants with hours, a hotel directory, entertainment schedule, and activities offered.WhatsApp – This is how you will contact your Butler while at the resort.&nbsp;&nbsp;Verifly App – You will need this at the airport, returning to the U.S. While in that app, you will create a new pass back to the US and you will answer all the required questions. You will upload your passport information as well as your negative Covid test results. Once you do everything they ask, it will give you a QR code and that is what they will scan at the airport. You will be unable to check-in online as the airport needs to see your negative test beforehand. COVID TESTING AT THE RESORT:At this time, a negative covid test is required to return to the US. A negative covid test is NOT required to enter Mexico. Covid testing is available at the resort and can be scheduled upon arrival.Instructions for your pre-departure COVID test:Do not eat for at least 3 hours before your appointmentDo not used mouthwash the day of your appointmentBring your passport to your appointmentPlease wear your mask when you arrive at the testing sitePlease arrive 5 minutes before your appointment, punctuality is very important, if you miss your appointment you will need to schedule with guest service and pay the price of the test (can not confirm but test may be free for TRS guests!)The test results will be sent to the email address provided, please make sure you have received the email before you leave the resort.Prior to returning to the U.S, you will NOT be able to check in online due to the airlines needing to see the negative COVID test results.&nbsp;Also, because of this, check in lines can be extremely long. It is recommended to arrive at the Cancun Airport about 3hrs before your flight departs.Please note, If you recently recovered from COVID-19, you may instead travel with documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (i.e., your positive COVID-19 viral test result on a sample taken no more than 90 days before the flight’s departure from a foreign country&nbsp;and&nbsp;a letter from a licensed healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel).

What is TRS Yucatan?TRS Yucatán Hotel is a premium hotel for adults only, whose services include...454 fully-equipped suites with 24-hour room service, 6 à-la-carte restaurants and 6 bars exclusively for guests at the TRS Yucatán Hotel, VIP area on the beach with loungers and waiter service, as well as a luxury spa, 3 private swimming pools with jacuzzi and waiter service, an infinity pool with sea views, a wide range of activities, including yoga and aerobics, as well as kayaking, diving and windsurfing. What should I bring?SUNSCREEN, pool float is always a bonus. For the room, I recommend damp rid and a multi plug. The outlets are usually single outlets, so this allows a little flexibility if wanting to plug in multiple things. The humidity can cause a musty smell at times so suggest bringing damp rid to help alleviate that, as well as pack multiple swimsuits, as they may not fully dry. Other items may include water shoes, as some parts of the beach are rocky. Bug spray is recommended as well. For the ladies, you may want to pack a shaw or light sweater for evenings outside. The resort is large so comfortable shoes are recommended if going far distances. If there is anything that needs attending to in your room, please contact your Butler directly.&nbsp;The resort will do its best to remedy any issues that you bring to their attention. Is a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap provided?Yes and if you run out, just ask your butler for more. Is the water safe to drink?The water at the resort is filtered and safe to drink from the tap. So brushing your teeth will not be a problem using the tap water. However, they will provide bottled water in your mini-fridge and upon request. Is there Wifi?Yes, the wifi is free. You have to be assigned a room to use it. It covers almost the entire resort.&nbsp;Every few days you may have to log back in, depending on your length of stay. Are there elevators to the rooms?No, so if you are on the 3rd floor be mindful you will have to go up 2 flights of stairs. Is there an in-room safe?Yes, and programmable to your own code. Instructions are listed in the safe. What are the wristbands for?The wristbands are required at all times. They are different colors for different areas of the resort. TRS is typically grey. They are also your room key as there is a chip in the band. Just hold the band next to the keypad and it will unlock your door. If you lose your wristband just go to the TRS lobby and they will replace it. It happens… but know that if it gets replaced, your roomie(s) will also need to get their chip changed to match yours. How do I get around the resort besides walking?Golf carts are available to take you anywhere you would like. Ask your butler and he will call one for you. If you need to be somewhere at a given time, i.e. the wedding or dinner reservations, please arrange this at least 30 mins prior to when you need to be there. So please allow for this. What currency should I bring?US dollars and Mexican pesos are both acceptable. Per other guests, staff prefer US dollars for tips. Is there an ATM on the resort?Yes, TRS has one as well as Colonial. I believe TRS provides you US Dollars, where Colonial provides you pesos.&nbsp;There is a fee for withdrawing money, so keep that in mind.&nbsp;However, all credit cards are accepted. Should I tip?While tipping is not required and the service is great already, tipping just ensures that little extra. Remember, these are hardworking folks that don’t make the money we make back in the states, so if your bartender, server, bellhop, butler, maid are doing a great job… give them a tip. This is what we usually tip, however, it is all about your budget and if you even want to tip! Bartender/Drink Server: $1 if grab and go… if sitting for a bit, then we tip $5-$10, depending on how long we have been there.Restaurant Server: $5-$20, depending how many people, level of service, etc.Bell-hop/golf-cart driver: $1-$2 each wayButler: $5 per day or tip $20-$25 at the end of your stayMaid: $5 per day or tip $20-$25 at the end of your stay. What is CHIC Cabaret?It’s dinner and a show. There is a dress code, men must wear long pants and a closed toe shoe. How do I book excursions?If you are planning on doing activities at the resort, we suggest you wait to make any reservations until after you arrive. You can see a list of activities on the Grand Palladium App.If you are planning to venture outside of the resort for a tour or excursion, we definitely recommend you make those reservations in advance, like today.&nbsp;We have heard that excursions are booking quickly, so get those reservations set now. Does TRS have a beach on site?Technically no, since all beaches are public.&nbsp;However, you can go to the private area close to the beach (still in the sand and a few feet from the ocean).&nbsp;They have Bali Beds, Hammocks and Lounge Chairs free of charge for TRS guests only.&nbsp;There is also a bar/snack shop. Are there stores to shop in at the resort?Yes… TRS has a jewelry store.&nbsp;Convenience store and apparel stores are located at White Sands and Kantenah.&nbsp;Prices are pretty high, since they have a collective audience for things like Advil, Pepto, sunscreen, etc.&nbsp;So I recommend bringing these items from home. Is the Spa free?Sadly no longer but a fee of $35 for a day pass, which does not include special treatments such as massages. The best rates to pay for treatments are through the sales folks, usually wearing blue, that walk around the pool areas. You can barter with them on prices versus paying full price at the Spa, but do not agree to any kind of orientation or time share tour - this is a waste of time.
