THE VIRTUE:

They say patience is a virtue. If so, Erin & Scott have that market, cornered and proved some things—are most decidedly–worth the wait.

And wait, they did…

After all, it was 2,928 days from their first date that they finally decided to give it another shot. But how they got there, is why this culmination of events and emotions, all makes sense…

THE EVOLUTION:

Scott first heard about Erin through a coworker and saw her on TV shows and in magazines promoting her family’s renowned bakery appropriately named, ‘Pie Sisters’. Like any good journalist, he requested an exclusive ‘one-on-one’, i.e. date. And over drinks at one of Washington’s most storied spots for a cozy connection (JFK & Jackie O were engaged there) he and Erin hit it off and something noteworthy was sparked.

Though timing is everything. And despite months of seeing each other sporadically, this wasn’t the exact right time for them as a couple.

So friends, of the truest kind, they became. From birthdays to holidays, events around town or family time with Erin’s two sisters and parents, they never let each other stray too far. Her family believed (and often boldly let it be known) that the two belonged together for good. And Scott, who may not have realized it initially, also knew deep down that this was something altogether different and above all, special.

THE PAYOFF:

In 2023, the two (having been through their own life-changing highs and lows, relationships and loss) began seeing more of each other until Erin decided one day, it was time to put cards on the table. The friendship was priceless, she wrote—but there was something else invaluable here—and all they really needed to do was admit it. Once Scott did, their worlds changed. And while Erin jokes she blacked out at that moment from years of wondering, suddenly being erased, it was crystal clear they were going to make it happen. This time, for good.

THE ENGAGEMENT:

Taking this rekindled romance on the road from a Colorado concert to a meeting of the Thumans in Santa Fe, they eventually ended up on an adventure through Slovenia where on Lake Bled, trying to channel Bob Blakely's rowing prowess, Scott rented an old row boat. He took Erin to an island where they prayed in a centuries old church, rang the church bells and reminisced about all the years that led them to this spot. Back on the water, Scott made it clear he wouldn’t let another 8 years pass them by and asked Erin if she would marry him. Fortunately, for both of them, this time…despite all the time gone by…was the exact right time.

Now it’s time for you to join them in celebrating this very special, very long awaited, but very worthy, union.
