Erin & Jacob

Jacob and Erin have had many discussions about exactly how and when they fell in love. There was no chance meeting where it took one look and they "knew," and no adorable meet-cute worthy of a romcom. In fact, they knew each other for two years before their love took hold. They worked together, had class with one another, and even had many of the same friends.

Instead, their love took its time. It waited for them to grow and to learn just what love was and what love was not. It sat by as they dated other people, made small talk around campus, and grew from kids to, well, still kids, but slightly more mature kids.

Somewhere along the way in all that passing time, Jacob found himself in random poetry readings with Erin or falling asleep in her room as she read Shakespeare or Capote, and Erin found herself walking with Jacob around campus or joining him each morning for breakfast. Ultimately, they felt magic in the mundane and found themselves in love.

Of course, there's more to their story. It's a rather long one, full of drunk family members, a bunny costume, late night iHop runs, and a rubber duck named "Chicken." If you were to ask each of them when they fell in love - when they looked at the other and thought to themselves, "This is it," - their stories would inevitably change with each answer. The truth is, there wasn't "one moment." That's the beauty of their love - it was growing before they ever knew it was there. They fell in a way that can best be quoted by John Green: "slowly, then all at once."
