The site of Barnegat Lighthouse on the northern tip of Long Beach Island was regarded as one of the most crucial "change of course" points for coastal vessels. Vessels bound to and from New York along the New Jersey coastline depended on Barnegat Lighthouse to avoid the shoals extending from the shoreline.

Visitors can walk to the top of the lighthouse for a panoramic view of Island Beach, Barnegat Bay, and Long Beach Island. There is also a small museum on site that offers an overview of the lighthouse's history.

The lighthouse is open daily from 10 am to 4:30 pm (weather permitting) from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Perched along the bay at the northernmost end of the island in scenic Barnegat Light, Viking Village features a row of tiny fishing shacks that have been transformed into quaint shops that rest adjacent to one of the busiest commercial fishing seaport on the East Coast. Antiques, clothing, home goods, and other great finds await you, as well as a stop at the delicious produce stand or coffee bar.

Bay Village, located in the heart of Beach Haven, features over 20 unique shops and eateries. You can find classic beach food, including chowder, fudge, and elephant ears. There is also a great mini golf course right next door (Settler's Mill Adventure Golf).
