Our Story If you’re a fan of baseball, then you know the feeling that the postseason can bring. Nervous anticipation, tension in every moment, the heightened pressure of what could be. Now you know how I felt. When I decided to put the chances of a girl going on a date with me on the back of the St. Louis Cardinals, knocking off the Atlanta Braves, on the road, in the deciding Game of the NLDS. I made a simple bet with a girl. If my team wins, you go on a date with me. If your team wins, then I have to memorize the entire periodic table of elements. Thank God for the St. Louis Cardinals. The best part about it? They didn’t just win either, they beat them Thirteen to one… I like to think the Cardinals and I pulled off the impossible that night. They did what they did, and I took a disgruntled girl on a first date that led to a relationship now entering marriage. Erin and I first met her Sophomore year at Furman. It was hard for me not to notice her, given how she led worship at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes meetings I would attend every Tuesday. As you read this, you may find yourself judging me thinking “Paying so much attention to the girl singing the song, but aren’t you there for the Lord?!” Correct, and that is why I decided to marry her. You see, Erin is not just some girl. She is THE girl. How she walks in beauty, grace, humility, and sacrificial love is second to none. It was at this same FCA that I decided to introduce myself to her and start a friendship that eventually blossomed into a relationship that is now barreling towards a life together. After six years, four states, a stint in Wyoming on a ranch, and a short twenty-four months in a Physician Assistant program, Erin and I are ready to end our long distance relationship. We are ready to do life together. The funny part about that is that four and a half of those years have been long distance. So we know the exact route you need to take if you ever find yourself traveling from Atlanta to Nashville or vice versa. Come to find out, many of you people (my people) will be making that trek. In short, skip the Buccee’s, the snacks are great, but the chaos entering and exiting that parking lot is not nearly worth the cost. Let’s be real, you would devour the Caramel nuggets in fifteen seconds. Lastly to our guests, we are so glad you are going to join us. In full transparency, Erin and I could get married tomorrow with just ourselves, our families, and God and be completely content. However, we have chosen to spend it with you. Why? Because you made us. Every moment of our lives has been constructed by four things, our experiences, our understanding of our experiences, God’s omnipotence, and you. Don’t underestimate that. You’re here for a reason. We love you enough to have you share the most special day of our lives together, now let’s go do this thing!
