Dataw Island

Dataw Island is a private gated community in Beaufort County, SC, roughly 6 miles east of downtown Beaufort, bounded by Morgan River to the northwest and Jenkins Creek to the southeast.

Oak Island Preserve: A 32-acre nature preserve adjacent to Dataw Island, known for its maritime forest, trails, and ecological features; reachable via local trails or bridge from the main island. A great spot for nature walks, views of ponds and marsh, and enjoying native flora/fauna.


The Ruins: Archeological site on the southern end of Dataw Island, near the intersection of Dataw Dr. & Dataw Club Rd. These remnants of an 18th-century plantation are preserved and part of the island’s rich history.
