Our story began in Sedalia, Missouri, at Sacred Heart School. We met in kindergarten, and as Erin's dad often says, "They've always been sniffing across the fence." From kindergarten through high school, we grew up together, sharing classrooms, playgrounds, and countless memories.
In sixth grade, we had our first "romance," calling ourselves boyfriend and girlfriend in the innocent way only sixth graders can. We had many "talking" phases throughout our school years and we always kept a close eye on each other but mostly remained friends.
After high school, our paths diverged, but we never completely lost touch. Every year, we found ourselves reconnecting at Callum Young's birthday parties—Garrett's cousin and Erin's Godson. These annual reunions kept our connection alive, even as life took us in different directions.
In November 2022, Garrett reached out to Erin to see if she'd be in town for Thanksgiving. Without planning it, we ran into each other at Fitter's Pub the night before Thanksgiving. When Erin walked in, Garrett turned to a friend and said, "I'm going to marry that girl one day." That unexpected meeting rekindled something between us, and Garrett asked Erin out on a date. We went to Lamy's No. 5 Bistro that Saturday after Thanksgiving, and from that point on, our connection grew deeper.
For about a year and a half, we managed a long-distance relationship, with Erin living in Dallas and Garrett in Sedalia. Despite the distance, our bond strengthened with every visit, call, and shared moment. In early May 2024, Erin moved back to Sedalia, and our lives finally came together in the same place.
On May 25, 2024, Garrett proposed to Erin on the land where we plan to build our future home.
And now, as a tribute to that special date, we are getting married on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, almost two years after our first official date.
We are so grateful for the way God has brought us together, weaving our paths in such a way that we could appreciate and cherish each other even more. We can't wait to start our lives together as Husband and Wife.
With love and gratitude,
Erin & Garrett
