Let's go all the way back to January 13th 2019. Jonathan had just moved to Huntsville to attend Sam Houston and this was his first Sunday attending University Heights Baptist Church. He attended the college bible study class where Erin was also in attendance. We went around the room introducing ourselves to kick-off the semester. Jonathan was just going about his day, nervous as a first time visitor, while Erin had other plans. She noticed him the second he walked in the room, took note that he wore his jeans and a camo jacket (that would then become her favorite jacket). The End! That's how we met...well...that's when we first saw each other. We ended up going about our days without ever talking, in fact, the next time we would have any interaction would be in August of 2019.

Erin and Jonathan both ended up joining the college leadership team in the Fall of 2019. UHBC College hosted a Leadership Retreat for the student leaders at a ranch called Nowhere, and Nowhere was where we officially met. There are two sides of this story; Jonathan is convinced Erin was following him around the property all weekend, while Erin was simply keeping her eye on him to see who he was, who he hung out with, etc. because "he looked cool, and nice". We ended up talking quite a bit and got to know each other and of course, talk to our friends at the retreat to see what we they knew about the other.

As part of the college leadership team, UHBC has families local to Huntsville that volunteered to be a host for "Family Group" and the goal was for this couple to open up their homes once a month to ensure the leadership team was getting poured into and had a homecooked meal. As God's plan would have it, we both got assigned the same Family Group, Mark and Monica Chapman. I'm sure the Chapman's can tell this part better than we can, but Erin arrived early to the first meeting, and told Monica bout this guy she was hoping to see again. Over the months we met we went from sitting on opposite sides of the room and table, to same couch and same side of the table, to finally sitting next to each other and talking non-stop. We officially started dating on December 4th 2019.

The rest, as they say, is history! We got engaged on November 18th 2023! Jonathan took her "surprise" horseback riding in the Sam Houston National Forest, we posed for "pictures with our horses" and that's when Jonathan proposed! Erin said YES!
