On a chilly fall night, a boy and a beautiful girl met under the stars... on October 29th, 2022, to be precise ;)

This is no ordinary love story. A couple of their friends arranged for a college church event to go to the observatory to view the night sky. Thankfully… one of their friends got lost... A whole group was waiting at the parking lot for this car… and that is the very special moment when Ernesto and Emma met for the first time!

A couple weeks of talking after following Thursday night Bible studies, was enough for Ernesto to notice Emma’s beautiful heart. Her humility, devotion to the church, and maturity had captivated Ernesto’s attention. Meanwhile, Emma saw Ernesto’s humility, leadership, commitment to the Word and to top it off he loved hymns as much as she did! As Ernesto was trying to decide how to approach finals week while getting to know Emma, she did not hesitate to get him her self-authored book on the history behind hymns. Ernesto asked Emma for a walk on reading day, and after they kept talking, texting, and FaceTiming every day during Christmas break. Their families can truly attest to the fact that Emma and Ernesto were glued to their phones. They would text essays to each other. Their texts weren’t your average conversation, but they were rich with depth and full of theology, hymns, and their shared love for the local church, and lots and lots of random questions! haha.

This “getting to know each other period” only confirmed their desire to date which then began on January 15th, 2023. Through spending more time with each other and seeing each other’s commitment to the Lord, Scripture, and serving those around them, big “E” and little “e” continued to see clarity in that they were better together then alone (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). Praise the Lord for this sweet gift! On October 25th, Ernesto proposed at Camp Hydaway and he was able to completely pull off surprising Emma! Ernesto and Emma are looking forward to entering into the covenant of marriage and glorifying God together with their lives!
