Venue LaChute

Though the recorded history of Venue De LaChute is minimal, it is known that the land was once the location of a prominent local church during the mid to late 1800s.

The home was built in the 1870s and was originally a single story house located on the banks of the Red River.

As the story goes, the river began to change course and get too close to the house so it was decided to relocate the home to higher ground. Using mules and tree logs the house was moved one mile over the course of 6 months to its current location in the early 1900’s. The second story addition was added in the early 1900s, transforming the original Victorian style to a Colonial style that was all the rage.
