Some would say Ethan and Emily’s love story began in Colorado over Christmas break in 2022. However others would argue it was long before that, when Emilys brother Johnny gave Ethan her number and tried to convince both of them for months to contact one another. Needless to say neither one of them reached out to the other until they randomly ran into one another in Colorado. They both realized right then that this was the person Johnny was saying we should meet and talk to. The first time they ran into one another Ethan offered his jacket to Emily, and right as he was leaving Emily remembered to give it back to him. Lets just say Ethan was a bit bummed because he wanted an excuse to see her again, but instead she gave the jacket back that same day.


The jacket might have been returned but the texting had just begun. After 3 weeks Ethan asked Emily out on their first date. Their first date was quite memorable and Emily has her sisters and friends to thank because they definitely convinced her to go. Ethan was traveling to a friend’s wedding and happened to have a 9 hour layover in Denver because of his limited flight choices due to being in the army. Emily picked Ethan up at DIA at midnight and they went and got In&Out at 1 in the morning. Emily was not quite sure what she thought of all of this, but what she did know is the conversation was easy. They stayed up chatting and getting to know each other until 3AM. Although Ethan and Emily only had a few hours in the middle of the night to get to know each other, that’s all it took.


Their second date consisted of Emily picking Ethan up from the airport again and taking him to brunch to then meet nearly his entire family. They hit the ground running and there was no time to waste. Dating long distance for 11 months was not ideal and they had to make the best of short 48 hour trips, but they were able get to know each other inside and out over long FaceTime calls and virtual movie dates and coffee dates.


Ethan and Emily have been able to enjoy the past 6 months in the same state. Even though Ethan has been gone for nearly 3 of the 6 months for training, the mere fact of living in the same state and even same town has been a blessing. They get to enjoy the little things: taking walks in the evening with Indy, working out together, going to coffee shops, cooking dinner together, and attending their church they love so much, and much more. Emily moved out to Fayetteville, NC in December of 2023. Only 4 short months later they were engaged. Emily and Ethan are thankful for one another and the friendship that has grown between them. God has truly been the author of their story thus far and will continue to write their story as they embark on this journey of marriage. Emily and Ethan are building a life full of love, laughter, adventure and they are excited to celebrate with you on their wedding day and the days to follow.
