Our Story

We met in July of 2017 at an AJEC youth convention in Jonesboro, GA. It was my first year as a leader and we were told to come in early to help set up for the biggest event of the year. Some youth from my church and I arrived at the church and we were told to go to the lower level. When we got to the lower level, it looked to be empty, until Raul and Eulises heard us walk in and they popped their heads out from one of the smaller rooms on that floor. Eulises was holding a clothes iron in one hand and his navy blue blazer in the other; and when he saw me, he just froze. When I saw them, I asked what I could help with. Raul started explaining that everything was done and they had stayed late the night before finishing the decoration. Eulises interrupted him saying “We can find you something to do!”. Raul looked at him weirdly and said “Everything is done…”. Kiddingly, I said “It’s ok… since there’s nothing to do, you can iron my blazer too,” Eulises said, “Yes of course!”. I said, “I’m kidding, it’s fine. We’re gonna go see if they need help upstairs”. And we left. For the duration of the convention, Eulises took every opportunity to talk to me; but at that moment, I was simply not looking for a relationship or anything close to it.

After the convention, I got a few messages from him through social media and we exchanged a few words, but it was short and nothing serious.

A month later we started talking casually and Eulises asked if he could take me to lunch. Sarcasticlly I said, “Yeah sure, If you want to drive 4 hours here and 4 hours back for a 2-hour date, because I work at 5 pm”. He said “Okay!”. I didn’t think he was serious, but in came the Thursday afternoon that he said he was going to come and at 12 noon, he was outside my house in his white pickup truck. When I noticed he was actually outside, I started to get ready, because I didn’t think he was serious, and I came out like 15 minutes later. We went to have lunch at Carolina Ale House and walked all of downtown Winston-Salem. We really enjoyed each other's company. So much, that I ended up calling out of work that day so we could catch a movie later that evening. Sorry Pancho Villas.

September 18, 2017, we became boyfriend and girlfriend.

You probably think from here, it's all happily ever after, but no...

From there we had 3 years of troubles, doubt, instability, and confusion through getting to know each other with 4 hours of distance between us. Although it was hard, we prayed for God to confirm our relationship and he did in more than one miraculous way. When we were both certain that we were supposed to be together, then came the waiting period. We had a waiting period of 3 years. I didn’t understand after the first year of waiting, why we had to wait so long to be engaged and get married. But because God is so incredibly good, he wanted us to not have a single doubt left about our relationship and the purpose He had in it. Before our eyes, the Lord began to mold the both of us for each other, and he continues to do so. At the time I didn’t understand, but I now praise God for the waiting period, because without it, our relationship wouldn’t be as strong as it is today.

Almost 6 years go by from when we first became a couple. July 2nd, 2023, on my 25th birthday, Eulises proposed and we are now engaged.

It will be almost 7 years by August 31st, 2024. The number of perfection. I will get to marry the love of my life. A man that God hand-picked for me that reflects 1 Corinthians 13:4-13 daily. All we can say is, to God be the glory for what he has done in and for us.
