Early May is spring in Barcelona. You can expect temperatures between the 60s and 70s.
Currency
If you have an international credit card, you will be fine. Having some cash on hand may come in handy for tips, markets, or small vendors.
Passport
Make sure you have a valid passport! No visa required.
Rental Cars
Driving is very accessible. In Spain, you drive in the same side of the car and on the same side of the road as we do in the U.S. You will need your U.S. license AND an International Driver's Permit (IDP). The easiest way to obtain your IDP is to visit your local AAA. The permit is $20 + $10 for a passport style photo. You can also send in a form and photos by mail.
When renting, most spanish cars are manual. There is always an option for automatic, but look closely to ensure you get what you need.

Time Zone
Barcelona is 7 hours ahead of US Central Time. If possible look for an overnight flight. To avoid jetlag, try your best to stay up as late as possible on your first day in Spain.
Outlets
You will find two types of plugs in Spain, type C and type F. We reccommend grabbing an international travel adapter which will allow you to use your personal electrical appliances in any type of outlet.
International Call/Text
Check with your phone carrier if they have any temporary international phone plans.
Banking
Remind your bank that you will be traveling internationally to prevent them marking interantional charges as suspicious.
