Where is the storytelling circle and wedding venue?
The venue for the Storytelling Circle and the Ceremony & Dancefloor is at Hotel Luna Mystica. The address is 25 ABC Mesa Rd, El Prado, NM, 87529.
When should we arrive?
Up to you! We love the idea of people getting to spend some time in beautiful New Mexico. If you are in Albuquerque on Thursday, we will tell you what local brewery we are at. If you plan on having some New Mexican adventures, take a look at our things to do page in the upcoming months for fun ideas.
What's happening on Thursday night in ABQ?
We will be gathered at Sawmill Market on Thursday night in Albuquerque if you are in town! They have a great selection of our favorite local beers and lots of food options.
Where should we fly into?
We recommend arriving at the Albuquerque Sunport Airport and renting a car. Taos is a three hour drive from Albuquerque.
Should we rent a car?
Yes. There are multiple car rental places located at the airport. Unfortunately, there is no public transportation from Albuquerque to Taos.
What should we wear?
Storytelling campfire is casual and comfortable. Think jeans and a hoodie.
On wedding day you should wear what makes you feel fabulous. Casual cocktail attire with shoes meant for walking on Earth with dirt and gravel (not pavement or grass) Think flowy and colorful dresses, button up shirts, bolo ties, suspenders, comfortable overcoats, big earrings. For shoes, think low heeled boots or booties, close toed mules, vans, and chukkas. Feel free to reach out if you are unsure what to wear. Keep an eye on the weather the days leading up to the event and plan accordingly. If rain is in the forecast, consider bringing an extra pair of flats.
What's the weather like in Taos?
In August, days are generally in the 80s with nights in the 50s. Every once in a while we get mid afternoon monsoons- fast and furious rain storms that typically dry up quickly (i.e. by 4-5PM). There is a chance of mud if the monsoons come and also chance of high winds on the mesa. Our wedding venue is in our favorite "church", the great outdoors, be prepared and bring layers!
Are kids invited?
Yes! Your kids are welcome. However, we totally understand if you want a kid-free weekend and we support you to make the decision that is right for y'all. If your kids are coming, expect an invite soon for them to join the kid parade!
I have a kid and we heard there is a children parade in the ceremony.
We will start our ceremony with a children's parade. If you have a kid who would like to walk the aisle, they are welcome! Look for Anna Stryker with a children’s parade sign as people move from cocktail hour to the ceremony. We have streamers for all kids to hold and wave!
Is altitude sickness a thing?
Yes. Our wedding venue is 7000 feet above the sea. In order to commit to your best dance moves, we recommend drinking plenty of water and electrolytes in the days prior to travel.
What's the parking situation at the venue?
There is parking at the site. Consider fitting a couple folks in a car if you know that you will want to leave the dance floor around the same time in order to minimize the number of cars we will have on site. Uber is limited in Taos. Thank you, designated drivers!
What's for dinner on Friday?
We will not be providing dinner on Friday night. We will have some yummy dessert for storytelling circle. We will also have cold sparkle water. If you would like anything else to drink, feel free to bring it! If you are driving from ABQ, there is a great liquor store on the drive up called Kokoman (34 Cities of Gold Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87506). There is also Cid's The Cellar on the way from Taos to Hotel Luna Mystica (623 Paseo Del Pueblo Norte, Taos, NM 87571).
What is a Storytelling Circle?
We are going to circle up and tell stories! We invite you to think of your favorite story of Kyle or Eva or the couple to share in community. We want to hear about childhood mishaps, teenage awkwardness, college adventures, family trips, favorite memories. Keep it short (2-3 minutes) and sweet so we have time to go around! This celebration is about understanding all the parts of who we are in our communities and the essence of who our community is to us. We hope that in sharing we can all get to know the families and communities we cherish, as well as the celebrated couple. We will have no toasts at the ceremony, so if you have a story to share, now is the time. If you don't have a chance to share your story on Friday, share it in the bar line on Saturday!
I don't know what to share in Storytelling Circle time!
Here are some questions to help! What is your favorite childhood memory of the couple? What were they like as teenagers or in college? When did they inspire you or make you laugh? What adventures have you been on with them and what were they like as adventure buddies? How would you describe the best parts of them as individuals to their new in-law family? Please keep your stories to 2-3 minutes so that we can hear from everybody who wants to share.
What's for dinner on Saturday?
We will provide appetizers, drinks and dinner on Saturday. There will be lots of vegetarian options. It is all gluten free and delicious! Also, did we mention the open bar? Yeehaw!
What if I want to sleep on site for wedding night to take part in late night?
If you would like to be a part of the late night crew or you do not have a designated driver and you are staying off site, consider pitching a tent on the site for wedding night. If you are from out of town, let us know if you would like us to lend you a tent/bag/pad for you to set up and sleep in!
Additional commentary from Kyle
This will be most excellent. So bring a party shirt and let's get fully integrated.
Additional Commentary from Eva
