Evan caught Crystal's eye when he had to participate in a pushup contest. It wasn't the muscles, height, or even his super handsome face that first caught her attention. It was his orange, hightop Converse.

Crystal worked up the courage the whole weekend to talk to Evan. She finally did right before everyone left. Crystal and her friends made up a plan to "recreate a picture from the year before." It just so happened that Crystal and her friends were missing one person to recreate this picture. Crystal then asked Evan to fill in for the missing person. Evan asked Crystal to take some pictures of him and his friend, Stanley. Crystal asked Evan for his number so she could send him the pictures.

Evan and Crystal frequently texted. This grew their friendship, and Crystal's feelings for Evan. They learned that they lived 5 hours away from each other. On October 16, 2022, Crystal was in Elkhart. She texted Evan and asked if he wanted to hang out. He said yes. Evan and Crystal went on a 5 mile walk around town, hung out with Evan's family, and finished the day off with mac and cheese!

Crystal was back in town for a few days. She reached out and asked if Evan wanted to hang out again. Shortly after this day, they both got into relationships with other people. Crystal and Evan remained friends with each other.

They got to see each other at National Fine Arts, then again later that week at PK Retreat. They still occasionally texted, but due to Evan having a girlfriend, Crystal chose to keep her distance.

Crystal randomly received a text from Evan. He asked, "Can I throw you a curveball?" After some back and forth conversation, Evan asked Crystal on a date. Crystal tried to remain calm, but couldn't control herself. She immediately texted her best friend, Emma Seiple, while running through the house. She had been waiting for this moment for almost two years.

Evan and Crystal went on their first official date. Evan took her to Cobus Creek and Raising Canes.

Crystal and Evan made many 5 hour drives to see each other. Each time it got harder and harder to say goodbye.

After lots and lots of prayer, Crystal moved from Patoka to Mishawaka. Crystal and Evan try to spend even just a little bit of quality time together every day. One of their favorite places to go is the marina.

After church, Evan told Crystal to get ready for a date. On their date, Evan took Crystal to The Chief for ice cream, to their favorite gas station, then to the marina to slow dance.

During one of Crystal's favorite songs, Evan asked, "Hey. Can I throw you a curveball?" Then he got down on one knee and proposed!
