Meghan and Evan first locked eyes during the Friday night game of the 2016 Cross Borders Curling Bonspiel on the Labour Day Long Weekend. As fate had it, Evan and Meghan’s team played each other in the Saturday morning game. Meghan remembers making Evan laugh and took it as a good sign. They later sat together, and the teams socialized over a post-game beverage and watched the Jays game. As they headed downstairs, Meghan asked Evan if he wanted to go and watch a Jays game sometime. To which Evan replied, “Yea, I think they’ll have it on the TVs at the club tomorrow!”. Completely over his head! The bonspiel continued the next day, and Evan and his family team won the A-Event! Meghan thought it would be kind to repay the gesture of buying drinks for the winning team, but as they came upstairs and Meghan was trying to pay her tab, a shot of whisky arrived in front of her. Not one to be rude and turn it down, she took it like a champ. However, that meant she was staying put. Several drinks later, it was time to go downtown for dinner. Evan and Meghan walked on their own and couldn’t stop talking. They hit it off right away! It didn’t take long for either of them to realize how they complimented each other and had the same outlook and vision for what they wanted their lives to become. In September 2018, Evan moved down to the south to move in with Meghan and Daphne. Even though Evan is allergic to cats, Meghan likes to remind him that the cat came first; let’s be honest, Daphne and Evan are thick as thieves and adore each other (with the help of daily Reactine). Evan, Meghan, and Daphne lived happily ever after.

How It All Began

Meghan and Evan were on their way to Kelowna to stay with Meghan’s Mom before continuing to Kamloops to watch the Scotties (Women’s Canadian Curling Championships). Upon finding an ETA for Kathy, they noticed a different route that went around the other side of Lake Okanagan instead of through Vernon and Kelowna. They figured why not be adventurous and try it out. They were so happy they did; the views were spectacular. About halfway down the road, they saw a perfect pull-off and decided to get out and take a picture of the view. This occurrence was nothing unusual and therefore didn’t alarm Meghan. However, when Evan asked if she wanted her coat, thinking they weren’t planning on staying very long, the thought popped into her head and out just as fast. She thought it would have been a beautiful spot for a proposal, but it was not even possible, so she told herself to enjoy the view and stop thinking about it. So she did. Evan, however, had a different thought. After taking photos and having a nice moment together, he changed their lives forever! The answer to the question: “Yes, a million times, Yes!!”

Ali is Meghan's younger sister and best friend. They have been through thick and thin together and always come away with a good story or an inside joke that makes them laugh together. When they were younger, they fought like cats and dogs, but now with Ali also living in Calgary, they are closer than ever! Ali is Meghan's biggest cheerleader and is always there for her!

Mara has always been considered a sister to Meghan. They grew up together in Parry Sound, figure skating, boating, and putting on plays for their parents. Together with Ali and Mara's brother Joel, the four of them were inseparable growing up! Even though they live several provinces apart, they are still as close as ever! It is also pretty darn convenient that they can walk 2 minutes through the bush while home in Parry Sound to get to each other's houses!

Eric and Evan started hanging out on Halloween in Junior High, also known as their anniversary. From that point forward, Evan was a staple at the Buckley house and often joined them at their cabin in Fairmont for summer vacation and winter ski trips!
Once the boys started working, Eric found a gem of a rental, a house built in 1914 for four guys - forever remembered as 212 and some of the best years of their lives!

Evan and Pete first met at the beginning of high school. Their favourite activities were road trips, country concerts and $1 Margaritas. In 2014, they embarked on a three-week road trip travelling 13,000km in Evan's little white Civic down to Louisiana and back to see George Strait (among others). They were also frequent weekend trips away to BVJ - a remote country/camping festival, and Pete's cabin in Fernie.

Meghan and Nick grew up in Parry Sound and attended school together. After Nick moved to Calgary, coffee and walks with a familiar face were frequent activities. A few years later,  Lauren and Evan joined in on the fun, and the four of them became great friends. From trips to Lauren's family cabin in Sylvan Lake to weekend getaways in Blairemore, there is always fun to be had playing Catan and Dice Poker!

Getting To The Venue

The Venue (Waterfront Park) located at 5225 101 St NW, can be a little tricky to get to.After the left turn from 85th Street, the road will fork. Stay to the right and follow the signs for Waterfront Park.

Once parked, there are stairs to the left (while looking at the building) down to the main lawn. Please note, anyone with mobility issues, can drive down the gravel lane and drop people off between the Shriner Building and the front lawn and then continue back up around the building and park in the main parking lot.

At Studio Bell, we celebrate the stories of music in Canada through artifacts and rare instruments. Studio Bell is the first national cultural institution dedicated to celebrating music in Canada in all of its forms. The 160,000-square-foot building designed by Brad Cloepfil of Allied Works Architecture comprises nine subtly curved interlocking towers clad in glazed terra cotta. And, it sounds as good as it looks! Referencing the design of musical instruments, the facility’s open spaces resonate with the sounds of music and activity, drawing visitors up through five floors of acoustically and visually distinct exhibition, performance, and gallery spaces.

Our Honeymoon Fund

We're incredibly thankful to have everything we already need. So, we're skipping out on tradition and would love for you to help us create some amazing memories on our honeymoon, instead. We are flying with Air Canada round trip from Calgary (YYC) to Saint Vincent and The Grenadines (SVD). While there, we have chosen to stay in a Swim-Up room for 12 nights at the newly renovated Sandals All-Inclusive Resort in January 2025. The resort has the opportunity to enjoy romantic experiences like a private candlelight dinner and couples massages, and we would love to enjoy experiences like these. Saint Vincent looks to be a gorgeous island, from tropical beaches to a rainforest, and even volcanic hikes. While there, we would also love to be able to see what the island has to offer and do a couple of excursions. Any help contributing to this experience is more than anything we could ever ask for, and thank you to everyone in advance.We cannot wait to enjoy our special day with you all!
