All guests should plan to arrive via Rome- Fiumicino International Airport (FCO) or Naples Airport (NAP). There are few options to get to Positano: Via train which is approx. 1 hour and 45 mins from Rome or 1 hour 20 mins from Naples) or via public ferry (approx. 1 hour 15 mins).
Rome is the biggest airport that is near the Amalfi Coast. I recommend taking the route of flying into (FCO), hoping on the train station at Rome Termini (which is the train station downtown Rome) to Salerno. It took us about an 1.5 hours to train from Rome Termini to Salerno then once you get to Salerno, you take a ferry to Positano (3 hrs total travel time).
In order to enter Italy your passport will need at least 6 months past your date of arrival - please ensure yours isn’t close to expiring!
If you have questions regarding your determined flight routes, contact the "Bride", as she is quite literally your travel agent & flight attendant that will be more than happy to help you with routes.
Please be mindful that some flights from the US are overnight - double check that your arrival dates.
Once in Rome, train from "Rome Termini" to "Salerno" then once you get to Salerno, you take a ferry to Positano. This route is not only the most affordable but also offers the best view along the Amalfi Coast.
Take a ferry from the train station at Salerno to Positano. The ferry port is directly outside the train station and walk less than 5 minutes towards the water and you are there!
There is another option to take a public Ferry from Naples airport to Positano. This Ferry is 1 hour and 15 minutes. You would need to taxi from the Naples airport to the Naples ferry port which is a 25-35 minute taxi depending on traffic.
Visit Direct Ferries and find a time that best fits your flight arrival in order to plan your ferry departure time. Once you arrive at the port of Positano you will need to hop on the bus that loops around town in order to arrive at your designated hotel with your luggage.
Hiring a private driver can simplify your trip, allowing you to enjoy the scenery without the hassle of multiple transfers.
This will be the fastest option to get from the airport to your hotel/airbnb. Please be advised this car journey is a little over an hour with significant twists and turns so we highly recommend staying OFF your phone and looking straight ahead to avoid any car sickness.
There are several reliable transportation services but here are a couple we recommend or have used in the past. Feel free to reach out to others who are arriving around the same time and share transport etc! The bigger the vehicle - the smoother the ride. Depending on what hotel you are staying at - they might provide transport from the airport as well. Both options below have standard cars and vans for around €120-150.
Book with "Rome in Limo" which is trusted by my future in laws who have used them.
