I asked Evan out for a date by laying a small bouquet of 3 carnations on his toolbox at work, each a different color. A pale red denoting admiration and the idea that “my heart aches for you,” dark red conveying feelings of deep love and affection, and a pink carnation meaning gratitude and the concept of never forgetting someone.

Our first date was shortly afterwards and while there are no pictures, it's one I'll never forget.
