Many of you are spending some time in San Diego and we can’t wait to see you and show you around the city!
Any online article with the San Diego must-see sites will not disappoint, but we wanted to tell you all our favorite things for when you are in town that Google might not tell ya!
Our Favorite Food
1. Cantina Mayahuel: This is our favorite spot to sit down and grab tacos or a Mexican plate. They were ranked the best margaritas in San Diego. We love to go to their happy hour (Tuesday-Friday) before 6 pm to get $5 margs.
2. Thai Time: Recently opened in North Park by Eve’s uncles! It has quickly become one of the best Thai restaurants in San Diego; they even won Best Salsa this year. I highly recommend getting the Khao Soi.
3. Mimmo’s: Going to Little Italy is a must! Mimmo's is our favorite spot. They have amazing homemade pasta. Request a table inside because the decor is equally great.
Honorable Mentions:
-City Tacos: A great place to grab a quick bit after a day in Balboa Park
-Taco Stand: Gabe’s favorite California burrito
-Señor Mangos: Try a Torta and a smoothie
- Churro Addict: The absolute best churros you will ever eat. Follow them on Instagram to find out where their food truck will be during your stay.
Our Favorite Bars/Breweries
1. Mike Hess in Seaport Village: Seaport Village is one of the many must-see spots in San Diego. If you are tired of walking around and want to enjoy the view and people watch, we recommend stopping at Mike Hess. If you see Gabe before you go, ask him for one of his glasses and get $5 beers!
2. Bivouac: I don’t love beer, but I love a brewery vibe. For anyone else like that, Bivouac is a great option, they have tons of amazing ciders!
3. The Lafayette Hotel: This recently reopened in North Park after a $31 million renovation! The maximalist style is crazy and the drinks are tasty!
Honorable Mentions:
- Shout House: Dueling Piano Bar in Gaslamp
Our Favorite Things to Do
1. Gliderport Cafe: On a beautiful day, we pack a breakfast burrito and drive up to Gliderport. It’s a perfect spot to watch the sunset, enjoy the views, and if the winds are right watch the Paragliders take flight!
2. Coronado Ferry: The views of the San Diego skyline are amazing and seeing it while on the Bay is even better. There are lots of cruise options, but if you don’t want to pay the big bucks we recommend taking the Ferry. Get on either Downtown or in Coronado. Here’s the link: https://www.flagshipsd.com/ferry-routes/broadway-pier
3. Eve’s Vespa Tour: I swear that the best way to see San Diego is by Vespa. Come on my signature Vespa tour around the cutest neighborhoods in San Diego. We will even sing, “This is What Dreams are Made Of.”
Honorable Mentions:
- Little Italy Farmers Market: Open on Saturdays
Neighborhoods You Should Go To
1. North Park: Coffee shops, breweries, locally owned stores/restaurants
2. La Jolla: Beautiful views of the ocean, rich people, sea lions, shops
3. Coronado: Brunch, beach, views, shops
4. Downtown (Little Italy, Seaport Village, Gaslamp): Tourist hub, restaurant, harbor views
Thing We Want You To Know
1. In & Out lines are always longer than you would think.
2. The ocean is not warm.
3. San Diego Safari Park is in our humble opinion much better than the Zoo. (However, it is much farther away, so we will still respect it if you go to the Zoo).
*Full Disclosure: We live in North Park/Normal Heights and are fully convinced it is the best place in San Diego. All of our recommendations are very biased and you may hate all of them. Text us, and we can give you more tips based on you instead of us heehee!
