John and Evelyn meet in Costa Mesa in April of 2018. Evelyn thought that John didn't like her at first, because John is more reserved and quiet until you get to know him. However John quickly fell for Evelyn as they got to know each other. Evelyn and John enjoyed spending time with each other and bonding by going to the beach, breweries, the mountains, and other spontaneous adventures.

In June 2018, John was sent to 29 Palms for three weeks for military training with the US Marines. Simultaneously, Evelyn left the US for two months to study abroad overseas. Although they were hundreds of miles apart, Evelyn and John kept in close contact during this time through text, facetime, and WhatsApp. Upon Evelyn's return from study abroad, Evelyn and John reconnected and felt that their relationship was even stronger.

October 10th, 2018, Evelyn and John went camping at San Clemente State Beach. As they were watching the beautiful sunset at the beach, John asked Evelyn to be his girlfriend.

December 17, 2020, Evelyn and John went on a weekend trip to Big Bear.
