Our Wedding

Fabienne was working on a segment for a Franco-Ontarian teen show called VOLT. She was looking for a sneaker collector in Toronto she could interview in French. She sent out a few emails and only got one response. It was from Hektor, who worked at one of a few sneaker boutiques in Toronto at the time. Born and raised in Montreal, he said he could do the interview «en français». When they met for the first time, she was pleasantly surprised to lock eyes with a familiar face. «It's you!». Having friends in common and so many other ties, this was a they-were-bound -to-cross-paths-one-way -or-another type situation. And we know how this story goes... (cue our favourite Warmfuzzy mixtape by DJ Neil Armstrong) Fabienne était à la recherche d'une personne à interviewer en français à Toronto sur les collectionneurs de sneakers pour un segment à l'émission VOLT, l'émission-culte jeunesse franco-ontarienne. Elle ne reçoit qu'une seule réponse. C'est Hektor, qui, à l'époque, travaillait dans une des seules boutiques de sneakers à Toronto. Une chance qu'il était bilingue! (et merci à ses parents d'avoir choisi de l'inscrire dans une école d'immersion) À part le français, ils ont aussi plusieurs amis en commun, ce qui fait qu'à un moment donné, en quelque part dans cette grande ville, ils se seraient rencontrés ... et on connaît la suite! 1992 til...  -  It all started on a grade 8 school trip to Quebec City. Our friendship blossomed at the back of the school bus thanks Kris Kross and a Sony walkman. The next year, we had side by side lockers and the rest is history.

The Hotel shall also offer individuals the opportunity to make online reservations by way of the Hotel’s web site <a href="http://www.thebroadviewhotel.ca/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">http://www.thebroadviewhotel.ca</a>. Group attendees will reference&nbsp;118791&nbsp;when making online reservations. Reservations must be made on or before the Cut-Off Date - Monday, August 25, 2025 (60 days before). After the Cut-Off Date, all reservation requests will be based on availability at Hotel’s prevailing rates. The above rates will be available for hotel stays from Friday, October 24, 2025&nbsp;until Sunday, October 26, 2025. Reservations occurring outside of these days will be offered the hotel’s best available rate. Hotel will allow a maximum of 15 rooms per night under the group block at these preferred rates until the cut off date of&nbsp;Monday, August 25, 2025 (60 days prior to event), rooms will be based on the Hotel’s availability only. Go for a walk, a run or a bike ride in Tommy Thompson Park (or as the locals call it - the Spit or Leslie Spit). This is one of Fab's favourite places to run year round but especially in the fall. C'est magnifique and you'll get some beautiful shots of the city ! Allez faire un tour de vélo, un petit 10km ou une belle promenade dans un des parcs préférés de Fabienne. C'est particulièrement magique à l'automne et vous aurez une vue magnifique sur la ville !

Tommy Thompson Park

This local Toronto café also has a location on King Street East, but this one comes with one of the best view of our beautiful city. Sunsets here are magnificent ! Ce petit café local a aussi une adresse sur la rue King East, mais celui-ci vous permet d'avoir une des vues les plus primées sur notre belle ville. C'est aussi un des meilleurs endroits en ville pour admirer un coucher de soleil.

Rooster Coffee House

If you want authentic Greek food in the city, head to the Danforth. This is one of many of our favourite spots to eat like we're in Athens. The calamari and fish are amazing. Always save space for their honey cake or baklava. You're welcome. C'est sur l'avenue Danforth (alias The Danforth) que se trouve le quartier grec de Toronto. Le Panthéon est un de nos restos préférés quand on a envie de manger comme à Athènes ! On vous recommande fortement de garder de la place pour un de leur gâteau au miel ou un baklava. De rien.

Pantheon Restaurant

Half restaurant, half industrial kitchen for the Terroni Group (aka LEGIT Italian food), this is probably our favourite place to stop at when we want to eat like we're in Italy ! Everything here is delicious, especially the pasta , polpete and pistachio gelato. Moitié restaurant, moitié cuisine industrielle du Groupe Terroni (autrement dit - des excellents restos italiens), c'est probablement un de nos endroits préférés quand on a envie de manger comme si on était en Italie ! Tout est délicieux ici. Surtout les pâtes fraîches, les polpete et le gelato aux pistaches.

Terroni Sud Forno Produzione e Spaccio (Spaccio East)

One of our favourite pizza spots in Toronto. Definitely one of the best in the city. Neapolitan style, chewy thin dough - you can never go wrong with their margarita pizza. Make sure to ask for their hot peppers. // Une de nos pizzas préférées à Toronto. Définitivement une des meilleures en ville. Style napolitaine, croûte mince et moelleuse. Leur pizza margarita, c'est du gros bonheur. C'est encore meilleur en ajoutant leurs petits piments forts.

Our favourite Thai. Ask for Allan (the owner) and tell him Fabienne &amp; Hektor sent you. We've been going there for more than 15 years. // Notre Thai préféré depuis plus de 15 ans. Demandez Allan (le propriétaire) et dites-lui que c'est nous qui vous l'avons recommandé.

Mengrai Thai

As close as you can get to eating in Hanoi - minus the humidity and the tiny plastic chairs. Bonus: it's a few steps away from the OG Degrassi High, where the infamous teen series that we grew up on was filmed. // C'est presque comme manger à Hanoi. Sans l'humidité et les petites chaises en plastique. Et c'est à quelques pas du vrai de vrai Degrassi High où la série culte jeunesse a été tournée !

Our go-to neighbourhood sushi. They never disappoint. Nos sushis de quartier. Ça ne déçoit jamais !

Kibo Sushi House - Regent Park

The best cookies in town. For real . Their classic chocolate chip might ruin chocolate chip cookies for you forever. //Les meilleurs biscuits en ville. Pour vrai. Vous n'aurez jamais mangé un meilleur biscuit chocolate chip de votre vie.

Craig's Cookies

Great cocktails. Amazing sunset views of the city and surprisingly not too crowded. // L'endroit tout indiqué pour prendre un verre avec des gens du quartier parce qu'on sait que c'est la terrasse avec la plus belle vue de la ville au coucher de soleil.

The Rooftop

Healthy vegetarian food that's actually tasty. Make sure to ask for their hot sauce. They sell it in bottles. It's insanely good. Across the street from this place is one of the most photographed fountains in the city and less than a kilometre away heading east on Front Street, you'll find the infamous St Lawrence Market - where you'll find us foraging at our favourite stands every weekend. // Un excellent resto végétarien - parce que oui, la bonne bouffe santé existe. Demandez leur sauce piquante. Ils la vendent en bouteille. Impossible comme c'est bon. De l'autre côté de la rue du resto se trouve la fontaine d'eau la plus photographiée à Toronto et à moins d'un kilomètre à l'est sur Front Street se trouve le fameux St Lawrence Market, un de nos endroits préférés en ville pour faire ce qu'on aime le plus ensemble - se planifier de bons soupers à cuisiner ensemble !

Fresh Kitchen + Juice Bar

We love this place for the taro bubble tea and the fact that it gives us an excuse to walk to the Distillery. You might even learn a few words in sign language when you order ! // On aime cet endroit pour son bubble tea au taro et le fait que ça soit l'excuse parfaite pour aller se promener dans la Distillerie. Vous pourrez même apprendre un mot ou deux en langage des signes !

Palgong Tea (Distillery) / DEAF CULTURE CENTRE

All it takes is one visit to get addicted to the vibe, the service and the best hair love in the city - bonus, this is a Filipino female owned salon that the city loves right back: https://www.instagram.com/lbhairlove/reel/DC4CzDyRLBy/. Une visite suffit pour vite comprendre qu'ici, c'est le service, l'ambiance et le sentiment qu'on ressent quand on sort de ce salon de coiffure qui font toute la différence. Et bonus - la propriétaire du salon est Philippine !

HAIRLOVE Studio Danforth

Find us here every weekend when we're in town. It's our favourite place to forage in the city ! You can eat freshly shucked oysters, the best eggplant or veal parmesan sandwich, very decent portuguese pasteis de nata and one of the best peameal bacon sandwich in the city. //Un arrêt ici fait partie de notre routine quand on fait les courses le weekend. Vous pouvez y déguster des huîtres fraîches, des sandwichs italiens, de très bonnes tartelettes portugaises (pasteis de nata) et un des meilleurs sandwich au bacon fumé en ville !

St. Lawrence Market

This place used to be kitty-corner from the Broadview Hotel but it moved to Gerrard St. East. You can never go wrong with their jerk chicken with rice and peas. Fun fact: it's also where Rihanna and Drake filmed the music video for «Work» Depuis toujours, ce resto était situé en diagonale du Broadview Hotel jusqu'à ce qu'il déménage sur Gerrard Street East. Leur poulet à la jerk est à se rouler par terre. Fun fact: Rihanna et Drake ont tourné le clip pour «Work» dans ce resto !

The most authentic tamales we've had outside of Mexico. Les meilleurs tamales en ville.. presque aussi bon qu'au Mexique !

Sansotei Ramen

This is NOT in our neighbourhood but it's worth the treck to Parkdale for their okonomiyaki, ikapiri, selection of fresh sashimi and authentic Japanese izakaya vibe. Pas dans notre quartier, mais ça vaut la peine de se rendre à Parkdale pour essayer leur okonomiyaki, ikapiri, les sashimis frais et leur ambiance authentiquement japonaise.

Countdown is on ! On se voit dans peu de dodos ! We kindly ask that you arrive at the Broadview Hotel at 4PM. Lincoln Hall is located on the 2nd floor. The ceremony will begin at 4:30PM, followed by a cocktail at 5PM. The reception will take place in Lincoln Hall at 6:30PM.
