Once upon a time, in the bustling halls of engineering school, two hearts unknowingly began their journey toward one another. It all started in our final math prerequisite class—a hybrid course where most of the magic unfolded online.

The class had a WhatsApp group chat where students would exchange questions and answers, a lifeline for surviving the endless equations and formulas. One day, I (thinking I was simply reaching out for help) asked a question in the group chat. Among the responses, there was a private message from someone named “F.” Assuming they were a girl, I gratefully replied. Little did I know, “F”—also known as Fayez—had seen my name displayed as just a “.” and assumed I was a guy.

For about a week, we texted back and forth, two strangers in disguise, helping each other navigate the labyrinth of math homework. I thought I’d found a supportive new friend, and so did he. That was until one fateful message. After sending him my completed homework (as I often did), Fayez casually replied, “Thank you my guy.” My confusion turned to laughter as it hit me—Fayez wasn’t a girl.

That was the moment the masks came off. I introduced myself, and he did the same. What began as a miscommunication turned into the start of something extraordinary.

To take our newfound friendship offline, we decided to meet up and tackle math as partners. Our first meeting was at Biggby Coffee, where we bonded over differential equations. From that point on, we became inseparable study partners. Schoolwork turned into shared laughs, and late-night study sessions became moments we didn’t want to end.

Somewhere between solving equations and sipping on creme freeze, we fell in love. What started with a simple question in a WhatsApp chat led us to find the answer to life’s greatest equation: each other.

Now, here we are, two engineers, ready to write the next chapter of our story—together, forever.
