I started messaging Mason more consistently and he was messaging me back and then I invited him to my (very late) birthday party in October and he worked all week to fix his truck so he could come. I had no idea he was doing all that work and was praying for the miracle of him coming.

When he showed up I turned bright red. I could barely look at him, let alone listen to the urges of my friends to sit next to him!! I was still not sure he liked me although I now know that it was very out of character for Mason Chipperfield to travel three hours anywhere, let alone a birthday party, on a Sunday afternoon before a busy work week!

After an hour or two of this embarrassment and avoidance Mason was thinking that it was all a waste of time and that he should head out but thankfully I gathered the courage to ask him to show me his truck.

He asked "Do you want to see the inside, under the hood... go for a drive?" and I leapt at the chance! "Yes, let's go for a drive!!"

We abandoned everyone at my party.
