We met in Las Vegas the summer of 2021. We never saw it coming and never imagined what would have came about in a random, ran down bar in Vegas. I (Desiree) was on a last minute girls trip to Vegas. After toggling with the idea of even going, I made the decision to go six hours before takeoff. Meanwhile, Felix planned his all guys Vegas trip to attend a boxing fight.

Friday night the girls and I (Desiree) left a concert and planned on calling it a night. On our way back to our hotel room, a small casino bar caught my eye. For some strange reason I wanted to stop for water. In retrospect, it felt as if something greater compelled me to stop at that ran down bar for just a few minutes despite already having water in the hotel room.

What was supposed to be a quick pitstop ended up being an all night thing. One water led to another and next thing you know my older sister, Mia, was telling a group of men she was breaking Amish in Vegas. As I continued to drink water and listen to men fall for Mia’s made-up story, I saw from the corner of my eye…Felix! He approached me and extended his right arm to greet me. Handsome and at the same time reeked of cigarettes and patron. Turns out those gullible men listening to Mia's story are Felix's pals. That Friday night their boxing event was cancelled. It still baffles me to think how close Felix and I could have been to missing each other entirely.

We enjoyed a few old fashions together that night and for the entirety of the trip. The night we met I asked for his ID, I puked, and I fell in love all within an hour.

Felix and I continued to see each other after Vegas. We would often meet in Yuma, Arizona every other weekend, if not every weekend. After a while of us going back and forth to Arizona and California it became evident we could not see our lives without one another. In October of 2021 Felix began making plans to move to Tucson. We became pregnant shortly after and welcomed our beautiful baby girl, Audrey Reese Ramirez in October of 2022.
